he Ohio State University was one of the original nine schools to host a PRSSA Chapter, granted a charter on April 4, 1968. Our Chapter is known as the The Walt Seifert Chapter.
Walt Seifert was a public relations professor at Ohio State in the School of Journalism for 25 years. He was a founder of the Public Relations Students Society of America and, in 1976, of the Educators’ Section of PRSSA.
In 2002 our faculty advisor, Dan Steinberg, won the Teahan award as top faculty advisor
in the nation. Our chapter was named PRSSA’s 2003 Teahan award winning best chapter in the nation and in 2004, the chapter’s professional advisor, Dan Orzano, won the Teahan for Professional Advisor of the Year.
Our goal as a PRSSA chapter is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and public relations professionals. We have over 150 active members right now and hope to continue to expand and provide opportunities for our members. 6

ello, and welcome to “insPiRation: Looking
Ahead to the Future of Public Relations” 2014
Ohio State PaRtners Regional Conference. We
are so excited to be sharing this experience with
all of you!
The Ohio State chapter of the Public Relations
Student Society of America wanted to create an
experience that would hold value for attendees
for years to come, which is why we decided to
focus not just on the present state of the public
relations industry, but also on the future.
In a world where everything changes in the
blink of an eye, it is often hard to keep up with
current trends, let alone know what to expect
in the future. As students and professionals,
we have so many amazing opportunities
surrounding us to learn from the best and
share what we have learned. There is so much
information to be learned and so little time to
keep up with all of it.
Take this time to soak up as much knowledge
as you can from the amazing professionals that
surround us today. We are not just learning about
the future of PR, we are the future of PR! 6

COLUMBUSThe Midwest’s Best Kept Secret
- Cierra Rider, Designer
id you know that Columbus was named one of the
most intelligent cities in the world, or that it ranks fourth in
the country in craft beer production? Or that Columbus is
the third most fashion forward city in the country?
The capital of the Buckeye State has been called a
“Secret Foodie City,” and is referred to as “The Test Market
Capital of the World.t” Of course, I just like to call it coolest
city in the world. Maybe that’s a bold claim, but Columbus
is the hidden gem of the Midwest.
Columbus might not be located on the coast, and it is
not a concrete jungle, like New York City, but there’s plenty
here for adventurous souls. I know what you are thinking–
we are more than just a football town, I promise. Loving
game day doesn’t hurt. Have you ever seen a whole city
tailgate? If not, you haven’t been to Columbus on game
day. Get your shop on in the Short North and Grandview
at local boutiques, head to Easton Town Center or Polaris
for your chain stores or even buy original pieces from local
artists and get your eat on anywhere. Our locals joints and
even local chains will not dissapoint.
Here is my list of the top ten good eats and places you
should try to visit while you are in the Buckeye State.

COSIRanked the top science center in the country, Cosi isn’t just for kids. The science center has interactive exhibits that stimulate and entertain.
The Columbus ZooRanked the #1 zoo in the country and the 8th largest in the world. Don’t forget to say hi to the red pandas!
The Short NorthThe neighborhood you have to walk around. Enjoy art galleries, shopping, bars and way too many restaurants to list. Be sure to stop by Mission Coffee!
German VillageHistoric neighborhood of cobblestoned streets with restored Victorian homes, great restaurants and an interesting book store called the Book Loft.
Easton Town CenterConsidered the lifestyle center of Columbus, Easton combines standard shopping with a pedestrian-friendly outdoor setting.
The North MarketWhether you are in the mood for fish, Polish food, Vietaneme or just need some spices, this is the place to go. Walk around & take in all the amazing smells.
Thurman’s CafeFeatured on “Man vs. Food,” eating a Thurman burger will make your stomach love and hate you all at the same time. Been around since 1942.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice CreamsSalty caramel, banana french toast and hotty toddy sorbert don’t sound like your normal ice cream cone, but Jeni’s is world famous for all the right reasons.
Columbus Brewing Co.Considered the “Ultimate Brew Pub,” CBC not only has a prime location in the brewery district but has some amazing food and drinks.
Harvest Pizzeria In my humble opion, Harvest has the best pizza in Columbus, hands down. Crispy crust but perfect consistency and flavor. Check out their bar, Curio, next door while you wait for handcrafted cocktails.
