The Ohio Baptist General Convention, INC. Women’s Auxiliary 2014 Annual Deaconess Day
Deaconess, Deacon’s Wives, Mother’s Board and Parish Workers
WOMEN DOING THE WORK OF DEACONESS
On Saturday, May 24 2014, we will assemble to commemorate our Christian journey as Phoebe’s and Dorcas’ of Jesus the Christ.
Location: Bethany Baptist Church 959 Bulen Avenue in Columbus Ohio. Pastor Jonathan W. Bradford, Sr., and the Beth-any Church Family have graciously opened their edifice for this our 15th year celebration as His servants. Everyone agreed the time change implemented last year was better than previous programs, so the continental breakfast will begin at 9:00 am, registration 9:30 am and the program promptly at 10:00 am.
Pre-registration is $25.00 and on-site $28.00. A light lunch will be served following the program.
The Women’s theme “Christian Women Called to Believe that God is God” continues to remind us honor comes through our service to others along this Christian journey. To place emphasis on our theme, several past Deaconess Queens will share their personal journeys as Phoebe’s and Dorcas’ as well as highlights of their yearlong reign as OBGC Deaconess Queen. The com-mittee is looking forward to this change from a keynote speaker and it is our hope those attend-ing the program are pleased, but most of all Christ is pleased.
Last year, the Associational Queens participated in a well-run contest for the quest as 2013 OBGC Deaconess Queen. We will continue the contest as a means of financial support for the Women’s Auxiliary. Letters will be sent to the five Associational Women’s Auxiliary presidents by the end of January outlining the 2014 Annual Deaconess Day and soliciting their associations support. There will not be a souvenir journal, but a program that each Queen Contestant will support with patron lists.
The committee for the Annual Deaconess Day are: Janice Wicker, Chair, Bobbie Clark, Co-Chair, Geraldine Carter, Lois Glover, Ilo Simmons, and Katherine Winfield, committee members. We serve our Heavenly Father, the OBGC Women’s President, Mrs. Mozelle Medcalf; The Convention President, Dr. Otha Gilyard; the OBGC Parent Body, and the OBGC Women’s Auxiliary.

Reverend Dr. Gene A. Armstrong, Moderator
The Providence Association Women's Auxiliary is rejoicing in the Lord for the
blessings bestowed upon us in the year of 2013. We have been blessed beyond
measure. We are grateful to God for a spirit of unity among the women of our
Association we are growing; we are sharing the spirit of His Love.
2 Timothy 4:2 (NLT)
Preach the word of God. Be persistent whether the time is favorable or not.
Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
The Women of Providence are looking forward to sharing our blessings.
We will be giving the Providence Youth our full support at the
Youth Auxiliary Workshop in March. We enjoy the opportunity to encourage and to help
strengthen their Christian Walk.
Mark 9:36, 37 (NLT)
Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, HE said to them, "Anyone who
welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me wel-
comes my Father who sent me."
The Women of Providence will be celebrating the 55th Women's Workshop on May 17th of 2014
the location to be announced at a later date.
We are looking forward to the OBGC Congress in July and the OBGC Convention in October.
Our Annual Women's Day will be held on
Friday, August 15th, 2014 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Bidwell, Ohio, Moderator Dr. Gene A. Armstrong, Pastor.
In October, 2013 the Annual Barbara M. Carter Retreat was held at the Greenbo State Park
Resort in Kentucky. We shared a project that was truly a blessing to us as well as the
recipients. We made care packages for newborn babies; born while the mothers
are incarcerated at a women's prison in West Virginia. The women are permitted to
keep their babies with them until they are six months of age if they are provided with the
necessities such as clothing, diapers and wipes.
We will be holding the annual 2014 retreat, October 10th and 11th 2014, at Greenbo State Park.

The Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association Women’s Auxiliary under the
leadership of President Shirlean Washington,
First Lady of the Mount Hermon Missionary
Baptist Church is excited and invite you to fellow-
ship with them as “Women on a Mission for
God”. Christian women with a heart to serve
God in their homes, church and community.
Sis. Washington; states that the many years of
working in Corporate America cannot compare
with sincere brotherly and sisterly love in the
hopes and dreams of helping others . “Worry does
not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today
of its strength” Matthew 6:25 reminds us that; Do not worry about your life, what
you will eat or what you will drink; nor about…what you will put on.
President Washington is a visionary, prayer warrior and encourager. During the month of
December for the past fourteen years she celebrates her birthday by giving to those families
who are in need for the holiday. God gave her the vision of the “Share With Love Project”. Over
one hundred gifts of clothing, toys and food items were distributed in the community.
The Women of Eastern Union also helped many needy children at Christmas by presenting
a program at the YWCA distributing hats, gloves, mittens and gifts. Blankets were a gift
of warmth to the homeless.

The Northern District Women’s goals for the year 2014 are to continue to press forward, devote ourselves to prayer and to give God total praise. I will be serving, if the Lord say so. I am rounding third, headed for home in my final year of a four year tenure as the Northern Women’s President.
God has been faithful toward us as we worked through the challenges. The Northern District Women and Officers have worked together in unity, serving and assembling ourselves, gleaning and encouraging each other through inspired Preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
We observed and participated in Mission Outreach Ministries in the National, Ohio Baptist General Con-vention—the State, and in the four (4) Sub-Districts.
