While all the auto makers are in a race to develop self driving cars, the technology ruler

“Google” launched its proto type very earlier around 2010.

Google is exploring fully self-driving cars which will be designed to operate safely and

autonomously without any human intervention. They don’t have a steering wheel, accelerator

pedal, or brake pedal. The utilized software and sensors do all the work.

The human needs to just press a push button and the car will start by itself. They have sensors

that remove blind spots, and they can detect objects out to a distance of more than two football

fields in all directions, which is especially helpful on busy streets with lots of intersections. And

the speed of these first vehicles at 25 mph. The model has two seats (with seatbelts), a space for

passengers’ belongings, buttons to start and stop, and a screen that shows the direction.

While the entire auto makers are driving their thoughts to launch the self driving cars, there are

some major challenges which particularly mentioned by the “Mercedes-Benz a German

automobile manufacturer”. Mercedes says its self-driving car won’t be available until 2030 or so,

and it may not be same as their concept version “Mercedes-Benz F015 Luxury in Motion”.

The main reason Mercedes won’t sell such a car earlier is the sky-high price of sensors, cameras,

and radar systems and the software as well. Until the prices reduce, we probably won’t see too

many autonomous cars on the road.
