Re: Consultation - complaint against Dr John Rolleston

At the Conduct Sub-Committee meeting held on 10 October 2006, the Committee resolved to defer the matter for the consideration of the full Conduct Committee.

The Committee carefully considered. this matter and does not concur with the Commission's recommendation to terminate the matter pursuant to section 39(1 )(e) of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993.

The Committee remains of the view that the Commission should approach Mrf WH I for a detailed statemenbprior ro C:onsidering if further action is required. The Committee understands that Mr WH is prepared to be interviewed and provide a statement. The Committee is of the view that a decision that the matter be terminated due to its age and/or lack of corroboration can only be effectively dealt with after the complainant has been interviewed in relation to the detail qf the complaint.

The Committee also resolved that a complaint in relation to ·a similar matter involving Mr 'if we I is to be referred to the Commission following advice from Mr 1,f wc I that he is willing to proceed further with his complaint. The Board's complaint in relation to this matter will be forwarded to you shortly. ·

The Committee is concerned that ·two complaints ~AWH I & 'if we I> of a similar nature alleging serious professional misconduct warrant a thorough investigation.
