Dear O’Gorman Parents & Students:
Our second semester is off and running with a busy schedule of extra-curricular ac-
tivities along with registration and planning for next year. Please read below for de-
tails on a wide range of upcoming events. Thank you for partnering with us in the
education of your child.
Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week runs January 29 – February 2 this year. We will finish the week with our All-City SFCS Mass
at the Elmen Center on Friday, February 2 at 10:00 AM. Students will report directly to the Elmen Center that day and
will be released from the Elmen Center for the weekend. Classes are not in session on that day, but the day does count
as a regular attendance day. Students will receive a Catholic Schools Week t-shirt in their first period class on Wednes-
day, Jan. 31. They are to wear these shirts to the All-City Mass on Friday. We want to thank Avera for once again
sponsoring these t-shirts.
Open House/Activities Fair for Class of 2022
We will welcome our next freshman class and their parents for a campus visit on Monday, February 5. The evening
also includes an Activities Fair. Please invite anyone you know who may be interested in learning more about O’Gor-
man High School. We will discuss academics, extra-curricular activities, financial aid and more that evening.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our spring parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, February 15 from 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM. A schedule
for the day is included in this newsletter. Please make an effort to limit your conference time with each teacher to five
minutes or less in an effort to reduce wait time for everyone. If you need longer than five minutes, please make an ap-
pointment with that particular teacher to meet at another time.
OGHS Registration Process for 2018-19
We will be registering for courses for the 2018-19 school year the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 5. The steps to register your
student are outlined below.
Step 1: Students will need to access the online course registration portal on Infinite Campus. This portal will open
Monday, Jan. 29 and close at 8:00 AM on Monday, Feb. 5. Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors will have ac-
cess to the portal. This procedure is only aimed at course selections for students.
Incoming Freshmen: Course registration for incoming freshmen will be held on Wednesday, February 7 & Thursday,
February 8 from 3:30-7:00 PM each evening at OGHS. Each student and family will meet individually with a counse-
lor/administrator at this time to assist with registration.
Step 2: Families will need to complete the online enrollment form including completing the tuition contract, updating
or completing necessary household information, and/or making a request for financial aid/work-study. Step 2 must be
completed in order for us to process the course requests from Step 1. Online enrollment for existing families will open
Saturday, February 17. The deadline for completing the online enrollment is Sunday, February 25.
Financial Aid for 2018-19
The deadline for applying for financial aid for the 2018-19 school year is April 1.

Attendance Matters
Attendance Tip of the Month: Make sure your child understands that you do not approve of them being
late or absent.
Attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student performance at O’Gorman!
You can check the number of absences and tardies of your student on Infinite Campus by clicking
on the attendance tab in the left column.
A reminder that ten or more absences from a class in any one semester may result in loss of credit
for that class.
At this point in the semester, students who have more than two absences are at risk for going over
ten.
If your student is going to be gone for any reason, please contact Pam Gordon in the attendance office
at 575-3310. If your student is going to be absent one full day or more, please call the attendance of-
fice at least one day prior to the absence.

course, please keep in mind that students are not allowed to miss more than two days of summer school. If stu-
dents miss more than two days, they are removed from the course.

According to the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation, childhood tooth decay is the #1 chronic child-
hood illness in America. NCOHF also states that 1 in 5 children go without dental care. The O’Gorman -
Greater Sioux Falls Area Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Chapter wants to help! February
is National Children’s Dental Health Month and O’Gorman - Greater Sioux Falls HOSA wants to help by
hosting a Smile Drive for America’s Toothfairy. A Smile Drive is similar to a food drive, but for oral health
products. It is a national campaign to collect toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, and other essential
products for children and youth in need.
From February 5th - 28th, we will have a donation box set up outside the main office at O’Gorman. All dona-
tions that we receive will stay in South Dakota. We deliver items to local places and, in the past, have also
taken supplies to Pine Ridge. In addition to donations of supplies, we will also accept donations of money. In
fact, $1 will buy 3-4 toothbrushes so monetary donations are able to aid more of those in need!
Please help us out with our National Service Project by donating dental supplies or money. All monetary do-
nations should be placed in an envelope labeled ―HOSA Smile Drive‖ and dropped off at the main office. Do-
nations can also be mailed to the school as well. Our HOSA chapter has been the leader in donations for the
past 4 years in a row - competing against many major businesses around the country. Help us stay #1 in aid-
ing those with dental health needs!

lege catalogs and narrowing college choices. Plan a visit to a college campus and visit with the college reps that come
to O’Gorman.
