A Message from the
Pastor…
Ogden Baptist Church
News and Happenings
Yippee!! My favorite month of the year is finally here! I love
June because it brings sunshine, warmer temperatures, watermelon,
patio time, flip flops and water skiing possibilities! It also brings out
smiles in folks and waves from people eating outdoors and working in
their yards and gardens.
I also love this time because our summer members return and
we are all back in the fold together on Sunday mornings. Motorcycles
and convertibles come out of the garage as well as golf clubs. New
beginnings commence as graduates make plans for their future.
Why can’t it always be June?
Well, even we dreamers know it can’t be June year round.
First of all, because the fall folks would object, and of course, that’s
not how God made the cycle of seasons. But I wonder if we might
make June’s gift of new beginnings a template for our spiritual
journeys. Because nothing invigorates more than a new slate, a new
path, a new opportunity, a new challenge.
Is God awakening you to something yet unseen? Grab a note-
book and capture your thoughts, experiences. Read God’s word in the
beautiful outdoors, go barefoot in the grass and lie beneath the stars
at night. God gave us June to delight and refresh our souls!
Summer grateful,
gail

Pew Pals meet!
OBC Kids look to summer
Sunday school will end our normal meeting routine on June 12th after our kids lead us in worship on that Sunday!
However Wednesday night continues throughout the summer, but will operate on a flex schedule. More casual evenings are
planned for July 6 & 20 and August 10 & 24. Schedule of topics to be announced!
Vacation Bible School is July 11-15! See Page 4 for Cave Quest details. Children will learn about
God through science experiments, crafts, games, and fun fellowship throughout the week.
In August (August 1-5) OBC will host their first ever Kid’s Cooking Camp!
This new adventure will have children learning to prepare a different meal each day. And they will connect their experiences to
Scripture! Those interested in helping are asked to sign-up in the Fellowship Hall! Sign-up sheet posed in Fellowship Hall.
And on behalf of the entire Christian Ed. board and our students, we’d like to thank everyone who took part in our Pew Pal
mentorship program. Your fellowship, guidance, fun notes and gifts were well received!
Want to be a Pew Pal in the future? Another rotation is planned for fall. See Dale Shonk for details!

Go the Extra Mile
“Where you go I will go and where you stay I will stay.” Ruth 1:16
“As natural, economic, and political forces disrupt and uproot communities, the church is called to stand in solidarity with those who
seek to move beyond the trauma of displacement toward the promise of healing and peace.”
Locally our friends at Parsells Community Church receive help through
One Great Hour of Sharing funds. In the U.S. and around the world
help is given for refugee resettlement, to ease hunger, give relief following earthquakes, floods, and more.
Many, many people find themselves in need.
Joining with churches all over the United States to support One Great Hour of Sharing,
our OBC goal is $750.
Let us stand with our sister churches and do what we can to heal a broken world.

Get Ready for TP Sundays Coming June 26
The last Sunday of each month is dedicated to collecting rolls of toilet paper and paper products for our mission partners:
Our refugee families and families living in poverty depend on the
food stamp program, which does not allow purchase of
paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, diapers).
So some creative folks at OBC decided to create an
opportunity to meet their need!
Upcoming Dates for TP Sunday are: June 26, July 31 and August 28
Our Stephen Ministers continue to meet bi-weekly for additional training and supervision to help in their ministry.
Please continue to keep our Stephen Ministers and their care receivers in your prayers.
