WELCOME TO THE INAUGURAL DUNES 100

Welcome to the Dunes 100 Ultra-Trail, 50 Mile and 100 Mile Relay! We know the hard work and

training everyone has been putting in and we want to assure you we will go above and beyond to make

this an experience that lasts a lifetime.

THE TEAM

We have a put together a strong team that pledged to do everything possible to get you to the finish line,

that is our ultimate goal. Despite the brutal course and unpredictable weather, we are dedicated to

giving 100% to you, our athletes.

RULES FOR CREW AND PACERS Please make sure to read thoroughly the rules. It is your responsibil i ty to pass it along to your pacers and/or crew that will be out there supporting you. 1. Can 50 Mile runners have a pacer? Sorry, you will have to toughen it out alone. Pacers are ONLY allowed for the 100-mile participants!! We will allow for your crew/family to join you for the last mile. 2. How many pacers are allowed on course? Runners can only have ONE pacer on the course at a time. We will allow for all your pacers/crew/family to join you for the last mile. IMPORTANT: Each pacer is required to sign the waiver and must wear the pacer bib at all times that they are on the course. You will be disqualified if a pacer joins without check-in at start/finish. Pacers can also check-in and pick up a pacer bib at packet pickup. 3. When is your pacer allowed to run with you? 100 Mile Pacers allowed after runner completes 2 loops which will be equivalent to 50 Miles or at sunset whichever comes first. Pacers are allowed to jump in at two locations ONLY. - 12.47 Ranger Station - Turnaround point Start/Finish. Signs at the park will help guide you to the aid station.

4. Does the pacer have to wear a reflective vest at night? Pacers are required to wear a reflective vest and or safety lights on front and back between the hours of 5:30 pm - 6:30 am. If aid station caption sees you without the vest you will be pulled from the course and your runner will be disqualified. 5. What are pacers NOT allowed to do? Muling (carrying items that don't belong to you) is not allowed. Athletes must carry their own bottles, Vest, food, headlamp. If your runner runs out of water and food please feel free to give them some of yours until you arrive at the next station. 6. Will aid station supply food for pacers? Most definitely. Pacers are allowed to eat and drink anything at aid station stops as long as they are running with you.

Crew Rules: Q & A Where is crewing allowed? Crewing is allowed only at these Aid Stations - Turnaround point Start/Finish. Signs at the park will help guide you to the aid station. Is Crew mandatory? The crew is not mandatory, but we strongly suggest you bring someone to crew for you during the race Dunes 100. Misery loves company.lol

Will Aid stations supply food for the crew? As much as we would love to feed everyone, the aid station food is strictly for runners and pacers. It is the crew's responsibility to pack their own supplies. The race packet includes a map and directions to crew access points. Crews should become familiar with the locations of aid stations. COURSE DESCRIPTION The name "Dunes 100" is Inspired by the beautiful scrubs that have endless rolling white sugar sand. This course will take you on a journey from Pine Flatwoods to the scrubs where you will go face to face with the infamous “Dunes of Heaven” and Dunes of Hell”. The first 5 miles you will go through pine flat woods with hard packed dirt some roots and sand. You will cross 2 wooden bridges – Kitching Creek South and North. You will then run 2 miles through wetland prairie with another bridge crossing and you arrive into an imperial eco-system scrubs. Here you will go 7 miles through white beautiful sand dunes. Encounter the famous Dunes of Heaven and Dunes of Hell as you have views of the beautiful intercoastal. COURSE MARKING The course will be marked with reflective arrows and wrong way signs at intersections. Here's what they will look like:

RULES & REGULATIONS 1. NO LITTER - LEAVE NO TRACE AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION AND BANNED FROM ANY DTR RACE. The course must be in better shape then what we found it. We had a team clean up the trails prior to the race to make sure you are running in clean trails. Littering is absolutely against our principle and will not be tolerated. 2. STAY ON COURSE: If you get off course you must return on your own to the place where you got off and start over. I wish we didn’t have to add this to the rules as cheating is the worse thing someone can do, but if a race marshal catches a person (cheating) you will be banned from any future race that DTR hosts for life. Remember the real prize is the achievement. 3. BIB - Must be worn in a visible location at all times. Pacers must wear a bib at all times when pacing you. (We have more than one pacer bib so your pacers won't need to share one.) 4. Reflective Vest - All RUNNERS & PACERS - Must wear a vest from 6 pm - 6:00 am - Plan on where you want to leave your vest so it's available when needed. 5. CARRY 1.5L HYDRATION VEST OR BOTTLE 6. Have a good time! Remember that is the reason why we do this, right!?!?

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Friday - February, 24th Packet Pickup Time: 3:00pm - 5:00pm Location: Jonathan Dickinson State Park - Wilson Creek Pavilion You will drive all the way back to the park's river area, this is the Start/Finish area for the race weekend as well. Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting Time: 5:30pm - 6:00pm Location: Jonathan Dickinson State Park Wilson Pavilion ( Wilson's Creek Pavilion) We will have open Q&A, Up-to-date race conditions, any changes in race rules or procedures and last-minute instructions will be provided. All 100 Milers entrants are required to attend. 6:00p.m. - Carb-Loading dinner MUST RSVP by 2/20/2017 by emailing: [email protected] Enjoy your last meal before the torture begins with runners and friends. Your meal is on us, but please let us know you are coming. RSVP by 2/20/2017. Crew and Pacers can join for $10/person but must RSVP with quantity of guests via email and bring $10/person cash

6:00 am: For all distances 100‐Mile, 50-mile, and Relay AWARDS CEREMONY Saturday, February, 25th 50 Miler 7:00 pm Awards Ceremony. Sunday, February, 26th 100 Milers Awards Ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Pavilion. (If we still have runners on the course we will pause the awards to cheer in the last runners!!)

• Participants who finish before the 24-hour cutoff will receive SUB 24HR Buckle and Jacket. • Those that finish before the 30-hour cutoff will receive a Dunes 100 Finisher Buckle and Jacket. • Cash Prizes for Top 3 Overall + Top Relay Team will also be presented.

Packet Pickup Q&A What will I need at packet pickup? Photo ID is required. Signed waiver (waiver is included in this email as an attachment, we will have extra waivers at packet pickup if you forget to bring it.) Can Relay pickup for the entire team? Yes, but you must bring in signed waivers from other team members. Can I pick-up pacer bibs? Yes, but you must bring in signed waivers from pacers. Can I leave my drop bag at packet pickup? Yes. Please write Bib # and what aid station you would like to have the drop bag available. Drop Bag Info There are two locations for drop bags at the race. We recommend a waterproof bag or container or placing your items you don’t want wet into a plastic bags in case of rain. We also recommend bringing your lights, extra batteries, extra socks or shoes and layers of clothing (gloves, jacket, beanie, long sleeves, rain jacket, etc.) for the night section. We recommend labeling your drop bag with your bib number, and aid station location.

Can I leave my drop bag race morning? Yes. There will be a designated area for drop bags in the morning of the race. Please label your drop bag with your bib number and aid station location.
