Orana Equestrian Club Inc. Official & Associate Dressage Events - Conditions of Entry 2018

• Events will be held in accordance with current 2018 EA Dressage Rules as amended except where FEI Rules apply. The OEC Inc committee may grant exemptions to the rules for special promotional competitions. The onus is on the competitor to know the rules. The conditions below are relevant for competitions held by OEC Inc.

• Competitive and Un-Restricted competitions: Refer current 2018 EA Dressage Rule Book and subsequent amendments.

• Horses/ponies: All competitions (unless otherwise stated) are open to horses or ponies. Please indicate on the entry form if your horse is a pony. Ponies will be judged in a group at the start or end of the competition.

• Height of horses and ponies: Refer current 2018 EA Dressage Rules and subsequent amendments.• A rider may be changed before the start of the competition; however, a rider of a horse may not be

changed if another rider has ridden the horse on the day, either in warm-up or in a competition. The Organising Committee must be notified in writing no later than 40 minutes prior to the start of the competition. Horses can be substituted with approval of the organising committee but must be notified no later than 48 hours prior to the event Draw position cannot be changed without the permission of the Organising Committee. One rider per horse for the entire event.

• Horses may compete at 2 consecutive levels, but not more than 3 competitions per day.• HORS CONCOURS (Non competitive): Riders wishing to ride HC/NC must declare their intention in

writing before the start of competition (test). Riders may compete HC/NC at any level below their grading but only one level above.

• PIC numbers, Bridle & EA numbers must be shown on entry form. If awaiting issue of either please indicate on entry. Bridle numbers (2) - one on either side of the horse, must be clearly displayed so that the judge can identify the rider when riding in front of the judges’ vehicle. Bridle numbers are MANDATORY for official competitions.

• Classes: a) Official Competitive – open to all EA Competitor members. Horses must be EA registeredand have a dressage performance card. Official classes attract grading points b) Closed Unrestricted –open to current financial Orana Equestrian Club and/or EA members. Horses do not have to beregistered with EA. c) Closed Restricted – open to current Orana Equestrian Club members only.Horses do not have to be registered with EA Graded Level must be included on the Entry Form for Official Competitive Competitions.

• EA Registration & Performance Cards must be available on the day of competition (official competitive competitions).

• Reserve Lists: In the case of over subscription, entries may be limited and a reserve list compiled.• Veterinary checks: Random swabbing may take place. If approached by Official Steward/ Vet Officer

of the day, competitors/person responsible for horses must allow samples to be taken from their horses for drug tests.

• Entry Fees: As listed on Page 1 – Admin/Ground fees non-refundable – Stable booking non-refundable. • Telephone or late entries will not be accepted• Scratching’s before the closing date of entries will be refunded as per EA rules. Compulsory admin and

ground levy fees are non-refundable. • Scratching after the closing date will not be refunded unless a medical or veterinary certificate is

produced within 24 hours of completion of event. Admin and Ground Levy fees will not be refunded. Stable booking fees are non-refundable.

• Ribbons: Ribbons to 5th place• Callers are permitted in all EA competitions.• Gear Check: All competitors must present to the Gear Steward before each competition. Failure to do

so may incur elimination. • Warm up Areas: Please use designated warm-up areas, be aware of group riding rules, look where you

are going and keep at least 10m from competition arenas.• Dogs are not permitted on the OEC Competition Grounds (with the exception of guide dogs). Dogs

must be on leads around stable and camping areas. • Children: Children, prams etc are not allowed in the actual competition area.

• Riding Attire & Hats. As per 2018 EA Dressage Rules and subsequent amendments or special conditions covered in the competition schedule. Whenever a safety helmet is worn, the retaining harness must be secured and fastened. Failure to have the harness fastened will entail elimination. Riders under 18 years MUST wear an approved safety helmet with the retaining harness secured and fastened in all EA competitions regardless of the level or venue.

• Only horses that are entered in a competition are permitted in the competition area of the show ground.

• Video Cameras and equipment must be kept at least 10 metres from the arena, preferably at the A end of arena.

• The OEC Organising Committee reserves the right to execute these Conditions of Entry and to alter the program at its discretion.

• Stabling is available on the grounds and shavings are not provided. No temporary yards or fences made substantially of electrical fencing/rope or similar material are to be erected

• Powered Camping sites are available on the grounds• Welfare of the horse is paramount.

• If at any time it appears to a member of the Committee of OEC Inc that a horse may for any reason require veterinary attention, and (a) the rider, or other person apparently in charge of that horse, is not immediately available to attend to that horse's welfare, or (b) such rider or other person declines to adequately attend to that horse's welfare, the member of the Committee is authorised to call in veterinary assistance for the horse, and the veterinarian attending is authorised to administer to the horse such treatment (including euthanasia) as the veterinarian considers appropriate in the circumstances. The rider of the horse is responsible for and must meet the cost of such veterinary treatment. A rider who does not meet that cost will not be permitted to enter any future competition conducted by OEC Inc.

• Riders and owners of competing horses and other people associated with them must, under penalty of elimination, obey any order or direction given to them by any responsible official (judges, official of the day, committee members, and gear steward) and they must, in particular, be careful not to do anything liable to upset or hinder the undisturbed progress of the competition.

• FEI Test of choice – please advise your choice of test with your Nominate entry

Spectators and visitors are welcome at all times.

Risk Warning and Disclaimer - Horse riding is a dangerous activity and can result in serious injury (including death) and loss. - All persons who ride, or tend, a horse on these grounds do so entirely at their own risk. - Neither the Organising Committee of any competition to which these rules apply nor the EA accepts

liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, grounds, spectators or any other person or property whatsoever.

- Competitors taking part shall agree that they will make no Claim against the EA/OEC or the Event
