Master’s MessageSeptember 2011
We are again summoned from our time of refreshment to Labor, to commence our work in the quarries. Our ancient brethrens labored in the quarries, where they perfected the stones used for the great and most magnificent edifices which we still see today. Our writing and teaching inform us at the building of these great edifices, neither a chisel nor hammer could be heard, because the work wad performed at the quarries and our brethrens then squared their works at the site and raised the stones. As such we are reminded today we are builders, but in a spiritual sense. We as builders are now summoned to ensure our beloved craft may continue to progress forward in fraternal and harmonious matter, and ensure the craft profits and pleasure thereby. This reminds me of a poem that was written by Charles F. Forshaw entitled ‘The Builder’.
The BuildersIf in the rearing of an edifice
We form one stone that makes the perfect whole; To us it would be the beau-ideal of blissAnd prove glad to the work-worn soul
A temple with proportions just and trueCan be erected by Masons skilled,
And instructed by an Architect who knewExactly how to tell them what to build.
And he taught us, however small the stoneTo plumb and level by the unerring squareTo make it pattern, so that all might own,
it was strong and beautiful beyond compare,With chisel and with gavel we have wrought
To gain “Well done,” The tongue of Good Report.
Brethrens, on September 16, 2011 join us at lodge, as we raise the Glorious Flag of our Country and the Flag of our beloved craft. I ask that all the Brethren who served be present on this date.
Sincerely & Fraternally,Jose A. Perez
Worshipful Master
