With the new doc library experience, we've noticed that SPD workflows no longer run, nor can you even check on their

statuses. When we push the doc library back to classic mode, the workflows work again and all is well. Is this expected

behavior? If so, why would MS want to diminish the functionality and experience that way?

That's not expected behavior. Old workflows are designed to work. Have you contacted support?

Can the Links be extended with additional metadata?

If you put custom metadata directly on the library, that will add those fields to links. I don't think you can create a child

content type and add fields just to Links yet -- that's a good question, I'll follow up on that.

Hello, we have been using the notification API in SharePoint Online for a while but if we switch to the new modern UI, all

our notifications are gone. They were important as they were used as disclaimers and/or reminders.

I'm not super familiar with the notification API. Where did these notifications appear before and how did switching to

modern UI "wipe" them?

We don't see the thumbnails in Modern Libraries. It that something we have to change?

That doesn't sound right. Are all file types missing thumbnails? That sounds like an issue I'd call support for.

Would love to use the modern document library layout, but too many functionalities are missing right now. So the

Once you click to go to classic view, how does the user return to the modern view

To return to modern, you have to restart your browser currently. This clears the cookie that "Back to Classic" sets.

Yes, you can use the "Get a Link" option with tenant-visible sharing links even if anonymous links are off.

Is it planned to force a user to add required fields (columns) when uploading a document?

We're taking a hard look at required properties. SharePoint has never "forced" the entry of required properties. Classic

mode results in the file being checked out to the user who uploaded if there are missing properties, but modern UI does

not do that. We've gotten mixed feedback on that.

Links are often "too long" when using the classic link feature, often because of the additional characters added by

Sharepoint. Has this changed in the Modern Look?

I think so, but I'm not totally sure. I wasn't aware of the previous limitation.

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. There is a setting in SharePoint Admin Center that allows you to turn modern

UI on or off for the whole tenancy.

We notice that the new modern libaries, document libraries dissappear. Also top links are showing to all users when

some sites are restricted. Also some links are showing as "Page not found"

What does "document libraries disappear" mean? Re: top links, this is unfortunately expected if you're in a Publishing

site and configuring the navigation using Publishing-related features. We are working on improvements here.

Why is the default option for sharing a link one that applies unique permissions. That adds to the complexity of

managing sites and libraries. Would be better for the 'restricted' link to be the default (and rename it at the same time as

"restricted" conjures up the wrong impression in users)

Thank you for this feedback. We have gotten mixed reviews on making the tenant-visible link the default. On one hand,

it really lowers sharing friction and makes it really easy to re-share content. But we understand that this is not always

what people want; it's often the case (and in some enterprises, ALWAYS the case) that the boundaries already set on the

team site should be enforced.

navigation is the biggest hold up for us, as most of our sites are publishing sites and the global and quick launch not

working correctly is why we haven't rolled it out.

Your questions are getting through - but there are many many other questions coming through :) The modern

experience changes nothing about the 5,000 item query limit. To get around this, you have to use a combination of

selective folders and column indices as you did before.

Blank Modern Document Library on some Machines Some of our users are seeing blank Modern Document Libraries on

some machines. When they log in with the same credentials on other machines, the same Modern Document Library

looks fine - they can see the files and folders there. In both cases, using IE11. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any

ideas on how to fix it?

We've heard about this issue through support and we're working on it.
