Thanks to the generous support we have received from donors we have been able to expand our services this year with a new hot shower and wash facilities.”
I lost my partner nine years ago. Genesis helped me move house and start a new life.”
My time volunteering at Genesis has been so exciting and fulfilling. I have completed a whole variety of tasks and the staff and clients created a welcoming environment that I have gained so much from; it is a wonderful feeling to be making a difference in the local community.”
I have no confidence when I’m sober. Volunteering here I can talk to people, I’m learning how to communicate again and my confidence is coming back.”
I had a stressful job and was experiencing lots of personal problems around my anxiety. Seven years ago I had a nervous breakdown. I’d never painted before, but when I joined the Life Skills art group I just started drawing. For two days a week I felt free. Today when I feel stressed I know I can just sit down and get a sketchbook out.”

Thank you for all you have done throughout the year. You are a great listener and your advice is always highly welcome. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” FAMILY MATTERS MOTHER
Whilst caring for my mum, my marriage fell apart and I eventually became homeless. I came to Lunch Box and one of the staff saw me. He gave me a big smile and asked if I’d eaten that day. Then he took me over to Lifeline and I’ve been visiting ever since. The more I do with Genesis, the better I get at coping with life.”
LIFELINE VISITOR
The staff at Genesis are really kind and considerate and I appreciated the little things that they did, like allowing me to sit where I feel safe, even though it makes extra work for them. I found the session really absorbing and calming and it was a lovely escape for me.”LIFE SKILLS PARTICIPANT
