Kingfisher’s Give $2,000 Making a Total of $6000 for ShelterBox

Last Thursday the Kingfishers took over the meeting with heady good natured fun including toasts to the Queen, a new song, and a great pro-gram on the Marco Island Yacht Club. The event was climaxed by a gift to the club of $2000 for ShelterBox. This amount added to that already collected by the club equals $6000 that will be sent this week to ShelterBox for the Haiti and Chile relief effort Let us this week toast the King-fishers. Since Haiti’s earthquake, tents and equipment have been sent to ac-

commodate over 100,000 people. St. Patties Day Party at the Sandlin’s Home was Enjoyed by Many

Good times, good food and a great sing along with Alan, marked the Rotary Spring Party at the Sandlin’s beautiful home. It may be that this reporter had one too many, but he would swear that one of our leprechauns sported green mustache and eyebrows. Thank-you Linda and Alan and Al Diaz for making it happen.

Forecast Warm and Mostly Sunny for Our Biggest Fund Raiser of the Year

The long range weather forecast calls for 76 degrees and partly cloudy for Saturday and 81 degrees and only 20% chance of rain on Sunday. As we all know the success of our largest fund raiser, the Marco Island Seafood Festival, depends heavily on the weather. Cindy Love, the project’s volunteer coordinator, says that we are carrying our weight well with volunteer hours pledged by our members. As long as the weather cooperates, the event should be an even bigger success than last year.
