Urgent Request: Adoration Chapel Adorers Needed! We are once again looking for volunteers to become adorers in our Chapel for the Exposition hours from 1:00-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Since our last appeal, we have lost more of our current adorers due to illness or family obligations. So, if you have been feeling the need or having the urge to do something more for the Church and God, the Holy Spirit could be calling you to do this. This could be the answer you are looking for. Could you spare one hour during this time period on one of
these days? No special training or requirements needed; only the willingness and desire to spend some quiet time with Jesus. Please think and pray about this urgent need. Your help is really and truly needed. If you have any questions or want to sign up for adoration, please contact Carol Smith at 708-217-7301.
Save the Date — Immunization Clinic Immunizations will be offered again this year on September 28th and 29th in the Parish Center. Stay tuned for further information.
Senior Exercise There will be no Senior Exercise September 2nd through September 6th. Exercise will resume on September 9th at 9:00 a.m. Looking forward to fall and maybe seeing a new face or two!
Paper Recycling Bins The large green and yellow paper recycling bins will be removed from the parking lot in September. The paper recycling started as a fundraising several years ago, but we have not received any money from the company in several months. If we were to keep one bin, the company would charge the parish $30 per month, with no rebate. Therefore, both will be removed sometime in September.
Congratulations! Congratulations to Terry & Irene Gainer, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

St. Christina Parish Domestic Violence Outreach The mission of the St. Christina Parish Domestic Violence Outreach Committee is to provide education and raise awareness of domestic violence, promote linkage to services, and empower prevention efforts of domestic violence among the St. Christina community. To fulfill our mission, we maintain a safe and confidential outlet to foster hope for survivors, abusers, or concerned individuals. Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior in any intimate relationship whereby one partner seeks to gain or maintain control over the other. The abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional and psychological. Domestic violence can happen to anyone of any race, age, religion and gender. Domestic violence affects people of all socioeconomic backgrounds or educational levels.

• Have you expressed an interest in becoming Catholic? • Do you have a child over the age of seven who has not been Baptized? • Were you Baptized Catholic as a child, but have not celebrated the
Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?

Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. There are separate sessions for children and youth. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights, and your faith story in a warm, accepting setting. Classes for 2019-2020 will begin in the fall. For more information, please contact Al Adolfo at [email protected] or Sue Carter at 773-445-9539 or [email protected].

Catechetical Sunday on September 15, 2019 at the 11:00 Mass
Please join us as we celebrate with the theme this year: “Stay with Us.” At this Mass, those who have been designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.
Free Book at the Doors Kindly pick up your free copy of A Letter to a Suffering Church by Bishop Robert Barron. They are available at all the Church entrances. It is an insightful read. Bishop Barron was 2 years ahead of me at the seminary in Mundelein. He is the voice and the energy behind Word On Fire productions and is now one of the Auxiliary Bishops of Los Angeles. I think his reflections will be both challenging and inspiring. Feel free to take one for a friend or family member.
Peace! Fr. Tom
