All youth have the ability to do BIG things. That is why Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami creates and supports one-to-one

mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

With a vision that all children achieve their full potential, BBBS Miami offers mentoring programs that take place

throughout the community, in schools, at places of work, and at the organization’s headquarters, the Carnival Center for

Excellence.

As South Florida’s premier mentoring organization, BBBS Miami matches at-risk youth (Littles) with committed adult

mentors (Bigs). These relationships, strategically matched based on Littles’ needs and Bigs’ backgrounds and skills,

empower Littles to achieve success in life and become productive members of the community.

Offering what BBBS of America considers the Gold Standard of mentoring, BBBS Miami serves more than 3,000 youth every

year. Founded in 1958, the organization has served more than 65,000 youth throughout Miami-Dade County. Part of a

national network, BBBS Miami implements a program model that has been proven to have long-term, positive impacts on

youth served. Thanks to BBBS Miami’s programs, Littles demonstrate improved academic performance, increased social

confidence, and healthier attitudes toward risky behaviors.

BBBS Miami’s programs enable Littles to build a connection with a positive role model who advocates for them and helps

them reach their full potential – their BIG potential.

Community-Based Mentoring

Bigs and Littles explore the local community together and share fun, culturally enriching activities they both enjoy.

Bigs in Schools

Bigs visit their Littles at school or at a partner after-school program throughout the school year.

School to Work

High school Littles visit their Bigs at work throughout the school year for a morning of life skills and career readiness, as well as one-to-one job shadowing and mentoring.

Graduate Program

Littles who graduate high school and their Bigs have the option to receive continued professional support of their mentoring relationship as the Little begins to navigate adult life.

Group Engagement & Mentoring

Group Engagement and Mentoring (GEM) provided enhanced programming for youth who were waiting to be matched with a Big, as well as for those who were already matched. Programming took place after school and on Saturdays at the BBBSM headquarters, the Carnival Center for Excellence. Youth in the programs engaged in carefully designed activities that had a long-term positive and measurable impacts in one or more of five key areas, known as the BIG5—Academic Enrichment, Career Pathways, Digital Literacy, Health & Wellness and Music & the Arts.

Continuing Education

To make sure that our Littles are prepared for life after high school, out Continuing Education programs provide college and career readiness programming, both to Littles in high school and to those who already graduated high school. Programs consist of:
