Kia ora, talofa lava everyone,
Thank you for your ongoing support with drop off and pick up. In the morning our children are starting the day very settled and calm and ready for learning. It is a great team effort to make this happen. We are currently exploring ways to support these ongoing settled starts that will continue to meet the needs of all of our school community. Once we know when we will be moving to Level one we will let you know what this will be. Finally, Louisson Place is now open for use. We will send out information in a separate school-links email tonight, about using this entrance from tomorrow - Thursday. Later this term all children will receive a written report which is typical at this time of the year. This report will be slightly modified, as teachers have not had adequate time to complete the usual assessments that they would use to inform some of their decisions about how children’s learning is going. In Week 5 of Term 3, we will have learning conferences. At this time, all the usual assessments will be completed and the conversation between each student, teacher and whānau will include the outcomes of these assessments to help explain how the learning is going for your child. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we do our best to keep you and your children informed with the progress of your child(ren). Our teachers are working hard to ensure that classroom routines and learning are familiar, focussed and meaningful. Some of the learning at the moment is directly related to the pandemic and this includes Health, Physical Education and Sport. We have decided that when a staff member is present, children can engage in activities that involve physical contact - for example a game of basketball. This would mainly occur during formal learning time, but may also involve a staff member led / supported activity at morning tea or lunch time. Strict hygiene practices (sports equipment being cleaned and students washing and sanitising before and after all contact activities) are being adhered to at all times. With a little over four weeks of this (interrupted) term to go, we are hoping that we can re-enter and use the Administration block, Library and Whaea Tracy’s room from the start of Term 3. It is awesome to be able to see the renovated buildings (Rooms 9-14) from the road now! Fingers and toes crossed that we get some sunshine so the grass on the top field starts to grow and we are able to get the fencing down before christmas! Ngā mihi, Sally
