Oedipus/Rear Window. Creative Mystery Video Project.

You may work with up to 3 people for this project. You will be writing a play that is based around a mystery. After your group has completed the script, you will be filming your play.

Here are the requirements:-Your writing must be in play/script form (consult Oedipus, or any other play in our textbook for reference). It must include:-Stage directions (at least 5)-At least 30 total spoken lines-A mystery that needs to be solved-Can be a modern story or based on the themes of Oedipus/Rear Window

The play must include the elements of a mystery (located below).

You will be filming your play, and it may be shown in class (for extra credit). You can recruit other actors if you are camera shy.The video must be at least 4 minutes long.

The project is worth 60 points.SCRIPT:5 for creativity20 for meeting the requirements.10 for conventions (grammar, spelling, etc.) and appropriateness.VIDEO:5 for creativity10 for meeting the requirements10 for individual participationI suggest that you brainstorm some ideas and a rough outline before you start. The play must be school-appropriate (not unnecessarily vulgar if you are doing Oedipus)CHARACTERS: Main Character: Trying to solve the mystery Suspects: Characters believed to have possibly been involved in the mystery Witnesses: Characters who could give clues to the mysteryPLOT: A problem that needs to be solvedCLUES: Clues are hints that can help the reader and the detective solve the mystery. Clues or evidence sometimes throw the character/audience in the wrong directionSTRUCTURE FOR A MYSTERY:Most mysteries are set up the same way. The structure of a mystery usually looks like this: Beginning: Characters are introduced and the reader learns about the problem Middle: Detectives work to solve the mystery by interviewing suspects and gathering clues End: The mystery is solved
