Exercise 3TYPOGRAPHY SELF PORTRAITThe task demanded that only letters and numbers from one’s namewill be used in creating the self portrait. The only colors allowed to be used were black & white. I aimed for a more minimalist approachand decided to use letters sparingly, focusing on the hair as a focal pointin putting the letters.

GOAL: To create a poster for the chosen typeface that willenable future designers to use this poster as a reference.

the poster may contain history, references and other informationregarding the font’s use and history.

Exercise 10:TOURISM CAMPAIGN DESIGN

A refreshing new take on Ilocos Norte’s tourism campaign released in March 2012 entitled “Paoay Kumakaway”. Uttermost attention is paid in the logo’s

message and the use of campaign materials such as photographs. Handwritten logo rendered with a brush pen to convey spontaneity and a one of a kind experience. “Intayon!” means “Tara na!” or let’s go! in Ilocano,

Ilocos Norte’s native language.

EBlouissant case study

Page 18: odesign portfolio

Eblouissant literally translates to “dazzling” or “brilliant” in French. Dei Cimatu, an Organizational Communication student from De La SallewUniversity designs, sells and markets the jewelry brand. Eblouissant fea-tures one of kind, handmade necklaces, which, according to Ms. Cimatu are “Hand crafted with love”.

The designs vary per season and are consistently edgy and trendy. Eblouis-sant caters to young “fashionistas”, both locally and internationally. As of today, the Jewelry line advertises and transacts with customers through the social networking site, Facebook. What began as a business that thrives on meet ups and word of mouth, Eblouissant is starting to gain popularity with customers not only in Manila, but also in different areas of the country

Dei Cimatu’s friend, College of St. Benilde Multimedia Arts student Renzo Navarro, provided Eblouissant’s current logo. The current logo is character-ized by the swift cursive handwriting of the word Eblouissant and a cursive handwritten “by Dei Cimatu” on the lower left.

Page 19: odesign portfolio

Since Eblouissant is a store based online, It needs a logo that will stand out and be memorable to it’s current and potential consumers. It needs a logo and a look that will embody what the brand is all about- taking inspiration from the philosophy of the designs of Eblouissant’s jewelry and the attitude of it’s target audience: Women who are not afraid to make a statement and stand out as characterized by Eblouissant’s bold, extravagant and “wild” designs.

Page 20: odesign portfolio

Objectives:1. Create a new logo for Eblouissant that can easily be used by Dei Cimatu when she publicizes her new collections in Facebook. 2. Create a specific look to strengthen the identity of Eblouissant through: a. A specific format in terms of product photography to increase brand familiarity b. Create a watermark that can easily be placed in images3. Formulate a cohesive and signature look for Eblouissant by strengthening brand recognition through effective graphic design solutions.
