District Report Card
Report cards are an important source o inormation about
perormance and accountability. They allow districts to compare
data in a consistent way and highlight opportunities or
improvement.
This report card will show not only the achievement o students
overall, but also the progress that disaggregated groups are
making in closing achievement gaps. Report card data help
Pennsylvania school districts and the Pennsylvania Department
o Education ocus on specifc groups o students who are currently
not meeting academic standards.
The report card is designed to ensure that the public is ullyinormed about perormance, and to promote broader
participation and better decisionmaking by providing a
shared source o perormance data. This ederal initiative is based
on the idea that a wellinormed public plays an important part
in school improvement.
Using Report Card DataReport cards should be used to share information. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is not
measured by the strength of this report card. The data on this report card may not matchAYP data published for this district.

Attendance and Graduation Data
Attendance and Graduation Measures
Pennsylvanias accountability system includes school assessment based onattendance and graduation rates. Attendance rates measure the number of daysthat a student was both enrolled and present in the school. Research showsthat a strong relationship exists between regular attendance and academic
performance. Graduates are the number of students graduating in four yearswith a regular diploma. Cohort is described as rst time entering 9th gradersfour years earlier plus transfers in over four years minus transfers out overfour years. The graduation rate for any year is the number of graduates dividedby the cohort for that year multiplied by 100.

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
2009 NAEP Mathematics Pass Rate
The NAEP, also known as The Nations Report Card, is a national assessment of student achievement that is taken by samples of studentsrepresentative of each state and of the nation. Tests in reading and mathematics are administered every two years and provide a meansof comparing the progress of states in raising student achievement. The National Educational Assessment Program (NAEP) scores and thePennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) scores are not totally comparable. The NAEP scores are based on National Standards,
and the PSSA measures standards that are unique to Pennsylvania. The data from the NAEP is based on a small sample, while the datafrom the PSSA is based on all students.
