You have no choice but to hide from the Government
Bolshevik influence and power has declined
What would you do?
SCENARIO 1
You have just returned from exile shortly after the February Revolution. The Provisional Government is clearly in power and many parties are joining to form the coalition government. What would you do?
1. Join the coalition government
2. Patiently wait for the right moment to strike
WRONG DECISION
The coalition government has failed to fulfill their promises and the people are suffering
The people start to withdraw their support for you, and are throwing their support for left wing parties.

They have identified the Bolsheviks as the main opposition right from the start since you rejected to join the Government
Bolsheviks are gaining support
To scenario 2
SCENARIO 2
Kornilov has just attempted a coup. Kerensky is now pleading for help. You know that you are against the Provisional Government. What would you do?
1. Let Kornilov take down the Government
2. Send your troops to destroy Kornilov’s army
3. Negotiate with Kornilov’s troops and ask them to stop
WRONG DECISION
You have eliminated Kornilov’s army and Kornilov was destroyed
However, you have suffered major casualties and lost the support of the Soviets
Back to the scenario
WRONG DECISION
Kornilov has taken over the government
Many right wing officers are regaining power and are reinstating the old bourgeois government
The efforts of the February revolution has gone to waste and your plan to take over Russia failed
Back to Scenario 2
RIGHT DECISIONMany of Kornilov’s soldiers were supporters of the Bolsheviks
Negotiating with them ensured a peaceful way of defeating the coup and little bloodshed
Meanwhile, Kornilov would be stripped of his power and can be easily arrested
Your decision has earned the support of the people for defending against people who wanted to reinstate the old bourgeois government, and at the same time portray that the government is helpless.
To scenario 3
SCENARIO 3
You now have the support of the people. Now you need to retain the support through propaganda. What would you do?
1. Address the main problems of the people and promise to solve them
2. Sit back and relax – you already have their support
3. Come out with solutions and help the Government resolve their problems
WRONG DECISION
Although you have gained support by helping the people, you have not achieved your goal in putting the Bolsheviks in power
WRONG DECISION
Your inability to take action has been met with negative responses by the people
The people feel that you are unable to help them and turned their support for other left wing parties
Back to scenario 3
RIGHT DECISIONYou decided to play on the people’s feelings by addressing their needs. But what slogan should you use which can effective summarize their problems?
1. “Unity, Food, Freedom”
2. “Peace, Bread, Land”
3. “Rations, Space, Communism”
The Answer
WHICH SLOGAN?
“Peace, Bread, Land” is the slogan which Lenin used
