Dear Parish Family, members, attendees, guest and seekers,

The Lord be with you!

Jesus said, "Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted" Mt 5:4. I

woke up like you did on Monday of this week, to discover the horror of the massa-

cre of 59 innocent people and the wounding of hundreds more at an outside con-

cert in Las Vegas, Nevada. I don't have a public Mass on Monday so in our Rectory

Chapel, I celebrated Mass for the decease and wounded. By the time you read this,

we will probably know more about the "motivation" behind this senseless act of

violence against humanity.

This horrendous event occurred on RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY. Parish Family, respecting

life isn't JUST about being PRO LIFE for the unborn but ALSO for the LIVING. While

on vacation I attended the Central Washington State Fair, (they didn't have a Make

Your Own Strawberry Shortcake Booth) and one of the "vendors" was the local Re-

spect Life Committee. Their booth not ONLY focused on opposing abortion but on

RESPECTING LIFE from the moment of conception to natural death. This "Seamless

Garment" approach needs to be applied to ALL our encounters with each oth-

er. RESPECT, seems to be a word that is not APPRECIATED today! Can we do our

part here at Saint Clement by RESPECTING the DIGNITY of each of our fellow pa-

rishioners or visitors, who in anyway are different from us?

Coupled with the images coming out of Las Vegas, are also the stunning pictures

and stories of the incredible destruction Hurricane Maria unleashed upon Puerto

Rico. May we double our prayer support for all affected by both tragedies?

Next Tuesday we start the new "growing season" of our Migrant Ministry Outreach

Ministry, in Cronin Hall. We have worked hard during the summer, to implement

some new changes that are intended to act as a HELPING HAND and not just a

"handout". We have developed VISITATION TEAMS, who will visit those who have

needs, in their Camps, so we can know how best to help them. These "visitations"

will also help us in reaching out to others who also live in the Camps.

Special THANKS to Fr. Henry and Fr. Rafael who helped out while I was on vacation.

It is good to get away, but it is also nice to return HOME.

COLUMNA DEL PÁRROCO Queridos Feligreses y Visitantes,

¡El Señor este con Vosotros! Jesús dijo: "Bienaventurados los que lloran, porque ellos serán consolados" Mt 5: 4. Desperté el lunes de esta semana, como muchos de ustedes, para descubrir el horror de la masacre de 59 personas inocentes y la herida de cientos más en un concierto de afuera en Las Vegas, Nevada. No me toco celebrar la Misa en la parro-quia este lunes, pero celebre Misa en la Capilla de la Rectoría por todos los difuntos y heridos. Al leer esto, probablemente sabremos más acerca de la "motivación" detrás de este acto insensato de violencia contra la humanidad. Este horrendo evento ocurrió en DOMINGO DE RESPETO A LA VIDA. Familia Parro-quial, respetar la vida no es SOLO ser PRO VIDA por los aun no nacidos, sino TAM-BIÉN por los VIVOS . Mientras estaba de vacaciones asistí a la Feria Central del Esta-do de Washington, (no tenían un puesto de “Has tu Propio Pastel de Fresa) y uno de los "vendedores" era del Comité local de Respeto a la Vida. Su puesto no sola-mente de enfocaba en oponerse al aborto sino en RESPETAR A LA VIDA desde el momento de la concepción hasta la muerte natural. El enfoque de "Prenda sin Cos-tura" se debe aplicar a TODOS nuestros encuentros con uno al otro. ¡La palabra RESPETO, parece ser una palabra que no se APRECIA hoy día! ¿Podemos hacer nuestra parte aquí en San Clemente RESPETANDO la DIGNIDAD de cada uno de nuestros compañeros feligreses o visitantes, que de alguna manera son diferen-tes de nosotros? Junto con las imágenes que salen de Las Vegas, también están las imágenes impre-sionantes y las historias de la destrucción increíble que desató el huracán María sobre Puerto Rico. ¿Podemos duplicar nuestro apoyo de oraciones a todos los afec-tados por ambas tragedias? El próximo martes comenzaremos con la nueva "temporada de crecimiento" de nuestro Ministerio de Migrantes en el salón social. Hemos trabajado duro durante el verano, para implementar algunos nuevos cambios que están destinados a ac-tuar como una MANO de AYUDA y no simplemente darles las cosas. Hemos desa-rrollado EQUIPOS DE VISITACIÓN, que visitarán a los que tienen necesidades, en sus campos, para que podamos conocer la mejor forma de ayudarlos. Estas "visitas" también nos ayudarán a llegar a otros que también viven en los campos. Agradecimientos especiales al Padre Henry y al Padre Rafael que ayudaron mien-tras estaba de vacaciones.
