Psalm 37:5 __________________________________________________________ Welcome to our service of worship for Worldwide Communion Sunday. Each year on the first Sunday in October, Christians around the world proclaim our unity in the Lord Jesus Christ by partaking of Holy Communion. (Philippians 2:1-2, NIV) If you are visiting with us today we are especially glad you are here. Please take a moment to add your name, address and phone number to the blue Friendship Register as it is passed down the pew. We consider you an honored guest and hope that you will return and worship with us in the weeks to come. If you are looking for a church home, we would love to talk with you about joining the Friedberg church family. The Moravian Church practices open communion. All who have been baptized and understand the significance of this holy meal are welcome to receive it. The pastors and acolytes will bring the elements from the communion table and serve the congregation in the pews. All who desire to receive Holy Communion are asked to stand, two rows at a time. To receive the bread, extend your right hand, palm up, and you will be served a small wafer. For the cup, the tray will be extended so that you may take one of the cups. Please wait until all have been served each element so that the entire congregation may partake together. Attendance at Holy Communion is a very important aspect of your relationship with God and fellow members of the Church. For this reason, we keep record of those who attend our services of Holy Communion. If you plan to receive communion today, please fill out one of the communion attendance cards, located in the pew rack, and place in the offering plate later in the service. Attention Sunday School Teachers! If you did not get your gift card at

the Sunday School breakfast last Sunday, please stop by the church

office and pick up a gift card from either Chick-fil-A or Starbucks.

It’s a Military Thing! A big “thank you” to all of you for the prayers and

support Clayton has felt from his church family. In the military, families

and friends wear RED on Fridays – Remember Everyone Deployed!

There is also the yellow ribbon – Till They All Come Home. There are

baskets at the exits with red bands and yellow ribbons if you would like to

participate for our troops. Please take one! (Family of Clayton Johnson)

Circle 2 members are taking orders for New Crop Pecans. The price is

$10.00 for a one pound bag of shelled halves. Please contact any Circle

2 member or Michelle Tucker by texting/calling 336-408-0477 or email

[email protected].

“Cookies for Christ” – What can God do when the “Body of Christ”

gives from the heart for Christ? He can use the “Body of Christ” at

Friedberg to reach out and share the love of Christ to encourage and

build others up. From your gifts of love, we will purchase Moravian sugar

cookies and attach a message of love and thanks to each bag. Each bag

will be hand delivered to those serving this nation. It is amazing to see

how God can take a simple bag of cookies with a message attached, and

touch lives in a way we can never imagine.

▪ Love offering baskets can be found at each door – thru Oct. 13. ▪ If you wish to write a check, please make it payable to Friedberg

Moravian Church and reference “Cookies for Christ.” ▪ If you would like to have your donation added to your church

contribution, please use an envelope, complete all the

information requested and mark on the envelope “Cookies for

Christ.” “How many will you bless?” (Colossians 3:17)

In Christ, Keith Graham

It is time once again to gather goodies for the November 2 Bazaar. We

would love to have your unwanted jewelry as that is our most sought

after item. Christmas ornaments and holiday themed items are great

sellers. If there is a special story behind your donation please share that

with us. Keep in mind that we will have a call for desserts the week

before the bazaar so start planning your baking now! The Bazaar Team

appreciates your generosity and can't wait to see what you will

contribute. See any member of the Bazaar Team if you have questions.

Thank you. Carol Knouse, Kay Boles, Marilyn Poorbaugh, Brenda

Dennis, Jo Moore, John & Carolyn Mason, Wendy Millard. Please give

me a call if you would like to join our team 336-764-1353

Moravian Disaster Response to Hurricanes Dorian

Hurricane Dorian’s damage in eastern North Carolina was focused to flooding in several areas and we continue to have a need to help communities in and around Wilmington to rebuild following Hurricane Florence last year.

To that end we are inviting interested individuals to help with a mission team which will be hosted by the Covenant Moravian Church in Wilmington, NC October 27-November 2, 2019. The team will be doing a variety of projects in Wilmington as well as Burgaw which is located just to the northwest of town. Cots will be available for sleeping but team members should bring their own sheets, pillows, and toiletries. Meals will be provided each day for the team. Crew members of all skill levels are needed to fill the team. We do have several experienced contractors that are coming, so able and willing bodies are needed to help get the work done. A roofing project is already on the docket, but there will be a variety of other home and yard needs to be cared for. We are also in need of folks who have pick-up-trucks or vans that can be used to transport materials to our work sites. If you are interested in joining the mission crew to Wilmington, please fill out the registration form found on Board of World Mission website at www.moravianmission.org/MDR. Questions can be directed to the Chris Giesler by email at [email protected], or by calling 610-868-1732. You can help to support all Moravian disaster relief efforts by sending your donations to: Board of World Mission, 1021 Center Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Those living in Canada may send donations to: Moravian Church in Canada, 600 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary, AB T2J 0B8. You may also make your donation on-line at http://moravianmission.org/give/ and click on the green “Donate Now” link at the top of the page. Your support changes lives.
