We’re glad you’re with us today. Our goal here at Lake Street is to welcome all people in Christ’s love, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, ability, or anything else that divides people.
Worship Aids
Bulletins are available from ushers at both entrances. The readings and prayers are printed there, but will also be projected on screens. Large print bulletins and pictorial bulletins for non-readers are also available.
Hearing devices tied to the sound system are available at the Lake Street door. Just ask an usher for help.
Children and Families
Parents are welcome to keep their children with them in worship. Don’t worry about the wiggles. At the back of the sanctuary are rockers reserved for parents of small children. For more privacy, the service is also being streamed in the library—out the side door and up the ramp. And during every service our Preschool Area is available for children up to age 5, where they can learn about God through play and ac-tivity.
A “Children’s Moment” is offered in worship, and all ages are welcome to come up. In the 10:00 service, many children will leave after the Children’s Moment for Sunday School (5th grade and younger). If you are a first time guest and would like your children to go to Sunday School, please take them down your-self the first time so the teachers can get all information necessary for your child’s safety.
Connect Card
The yellow insert in the bulletin is a way for our members to sign in, and there is also a place where you may leave contact information, if you like, so that we may welcome you more than once.
Coffee Fellowship
You are invited to a coffee fellowship after worship in the Fellowship Hall, by the parking lot doors.
Communion
We usually serve Communion on the first Sunday of the month. We use grape juice and gluten-free bread, to include everyone, and all who are seeking God, of any age, are welcome at Christ’s table.
A Welcome to Our Guests
Phone Correction for Pastor Jerry
We have found an error in our church directory, in
the entry for Jerry and Rebecca Morris. Apparently
Rebecca’s phone number was put down as the
cell number for both of us. (We had wondered
why Rebecca kept getting those calls on week-
ends to let me know that someone was in the hos-
pital.) We are able to update the online directory,
so if you are using that directory on your phone or
tablet or computer the number is now correct, but
if you are using the print directory, please change
the last two digits of my phone number from –91
to –03. — Pastor Jerry

Looking Ahead in Worship
On Sunday, November 3rd we will take a break
from the sermon series on people’s encounters
with Jesus in the Gospel of John and celebrate
our annual All Saints Day Memorial Service at
both 8:30 and 10:00 am. At these services we
will read aloud the names of those of our
congregation who have died in the past year
and light candles in their memory. But we also
recognize that many are grieving people beyond
our congregational rolls and people who have
been gone longer than a year, and so we will
have candles throughout the sanctuary for
people to light in honor of those whose death
they mourn on that day.

Youth News
Confirmation has begun on Sunday mornings at
9:15 am (in the newly claimed and repainted
Confirmation Room), and the monthly youth
gatherings (3td Wednesday of every month at 5:30
pm) have had their first meeting. The youth put
together gift packets for young parents of limited
means, that were given away at the Community
Baby Shower.
One new development in youth programming
here is that we are beginning quarterly Circuit
Youth events, combined gatherings of youth from
United Methodist Churches across our area. For
our first event this month the youth will volunteer
at The Community Table on Sunday, October 27th
from 1:00—5:00 pm, then go out for ice cream.
Get everyone together to join us!
Community of Compassionate Outreach
Wrapping It Up Soon
The All-Church Bazaar is under two weeks away on
October 19th and 20th. As you complete your
donations, please keep in mind the following:
● include an ingredient label. Some folks
have diet restrictions such as no nuts or
chocolate. And it’s sometimes hard to tell if a
pie is apple or peach once it’s baked, or if
fudge has nuts inside.
● bring your food item already enclosed in
plastic wrap or zip-lock type bag.
● label plants with their name and the
amounts of light and water they need.
Donations will be accepted until 7:00 pm
Wednesday (October 16th) and until 5:30 pm
Thursday and Friday, (17th and 18th). Workers,
many in Lake Street’s green tee shirts, will be
happy to help you buy on Saturday from 9:00 am
to 2:00 pm and again on Sunday, 8:00—11:30 am
during the Pancake/French Toast Breakfast. It is
MISSION POSSIBLE because of you! Thank you!
Bottles Needed for Bazaar
Please return any dressing bottles from your
Bazaar purchases last fall. We’ll prepare them
again with this year’s WOW and Onion
Dressings.
ARCW Wish for October: Canned Tuna
Please join others from Lake Street UMC in
assisting AIDS/HIV clients by donating a can of
tuna to the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin
during the month of October. Thanks to
everyone who reached out to ARCW clients in
August by donating 43 bottles of juice to the
ARCW Food Pantry. Your efforts and continued
donations are greatly appreciated.
Maritimes Presentation
This months Digital Shooters meeting will be a
presentation by Winnie Doxsie. She will share
some photos and stories from her recent trip to
New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova
Scotia. Time permitting there will be some
show and tell of some photos that didn’t turnout
exactly as we planned and we’ll try to figure out
why. If you have a photo to share bring in a
thumb drive. See you on Wednesday, October
9th at 6:30 pm in Room 202.
Hurricane Dorian Disaster Response
To donate to the disaster response through
UMCOR, contributions in support of United
States Disaster Response efforts may be
