Order of WorshipOctober 24th, 2010

Welcome

Prelude

Opening of the Word

Call to WorshipCelebrant : Micah told us

Congregation in unison : God has told you, O mortal, what is good; andwhat does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,and to walk humbly with your God?

Opening Hymn : “O Life that Maketh All Things New”

Call to ConfessionIf we claim to be sinless, we are self-deceived and strangers to the truth. If we confess our sins, He is just, and may be trusted to forgive our sins andcleanse us from every kind of wrong (I John1:8-9, NEB)

Confession of Sin (Congregation will pray silently.)

Declaration of Forgiveness All : O God, you have searched us out and known us,and all that we are is open to you.We confess that we have sinned:we have used our power to dominateand our weakness to manipulate;

we have evaded responsibilityand failed to confront evil;we have denied dignity to ourselves and to each other and fallen into despair.We turn to you, O God;we renounce evil;we claim your love;we choose to be made whole.

Assurance of PardonCelebrant : God forgives you.Forgive others;

And forgive yourself!Your sins are forgiven; be at peace.

DoxologyTo Jesus Christ be glory given

By all on Earth and all in Heaven.Let His dominion wide extend.

His glorious Kingdom have no end.

Reading from the Word: Isaiah 40:28-31

Reading from the Heavenly Doctrine THE Lord is present with every human being, urgent and instant to be re-ceived; and when a man receives Him, as he does when he acknowledgesHim as his God, Creator, Redeemer and Saviour, then is His first Coming,which is called the dawn. From this time the man begins to be enlightened,as to understanding in things spiritual, and to advance into a more and moreinterior wisdom. As he receives this wisdom from the Lord, so he advancesthrough morning into day, and this day lasts with him into old age, even to

death; and after death he passes into heaven to the Lord Himself, and there,though he died an old man, he is restored to the morning of his life, and toeternity he develops the beginnings of the wisdom that was implanted in thenatural world. (TCR 766)

Congregational and Pastoral Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom

come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from

the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Pow-er, and the Glory, forever. Amen.

Affirmation of FaithWe worship the One God, the Lord the Savior Jesus Christ; in whom is

the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; whose humanity is divine. He came intothe world and took our nature upon him. He endured temptation, even to the Pas-

sion of the Cross. He overcame the hells, and so delivered all. Without this, nomortal could have been saved; and they are saved who believe in Him, and keep

the commandments of His Word. This is His commandment; that we love one an-other, as he has loved us.
