STEM & MIST November 3O, 2017 : M.I.S.T. Night @ ECW

Meet the MIST Team MIST Program… STEM with a TWIST! This program allows media, instructional technology, and STEM to all collaborate with teachers and the science/math curriculum. Students are able to expand their knowledge outside the classroom setting through real-world, hands on applications and project based- learning.

ECW GRADE LEVEL PROJECTSKindergarten- TOY DESIGN-Driving Question: Can we engineer and design a toy that uses motion?

1st Grade- Operation Communication-Driving Question: How can we create a device that will use light or sound to communicate over a distance that will help keep us safe?

2nd- Purpose Built Community-Driving Question: How have GA's cultures of the past influenced our own purpose built community and how can we leave our mark

3rd- Solution for Pollution-Driving Question: How can we act as a solution for pollution to the plants and animals in the Piedmont?

4th - Planetarium Exhibit-Driving Question: Can we create a planetarium and act as tour guides to share our expertise on the solar system?

5th- I'm a Survivor!-Driving Question: How can we design a response plan or survival guide in the event of a natural disaster?

PTSA membership is open to and strongly encouraged for all family members of students, staff and friends of Evoline C. West Elementary School.

PTSA membership dues of $10.00 (Adults) and $8.00 (students) are paid annually.

SCHOOL GOVERNANCE COUNCIL (SGC)

The purpose of the School Governance Council is to provide parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role in the management of the school. SGC operates under the control and management of the Board of Education.

The Council is responsible for making decisions regarding the strategic direction of the school, SGCs have the following powers:

*Approve the school strategic plan and updates *Approve the annual budget recommendations and resource allocations *Manage Request for Flexibility process *Participate in hiring of the principal (in the case of a vacancy) *Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal *performance *Manage Seed Fund *Interface with the schools' Title I Committee

Parents, Staff, and Community Members are encouraged to attend. All public meetings are open to the public comment.
