Malahide Shuttle Launches on 29 October The long-awaited Malahide Shuttle will begin operating on Tuesday 29 October. The first buses will run at 06.15 from Seabury Shopping Centre and 06.17 from the Coast Road at Robswall. The service will run on weekdays and is timed to meet all peak-time DART departures from Malahide Station from 06.30 to 09.30 in the morning and arrivals from 16.20 to 19.32 in the evening. The areas to be served are Seabury, Estuary Road, Swords Road, Millview Road, Yellow Walls Road , Dublin Road, Coast Road, Seapark, Biscayne and Robswall. The fare will be 1.50 per trip and LEAP cards will be introduced as soon as possible. A shuttle project group was formed representing Malahide Chamber of Commerce, Malahide Community Forum and the Operations Department of Fingal County Council. Detailed and extensive research was carried out includ- ing face-to-face interviews with hundreds of commuters. The shuttle will be operated by Malahide Coaches and stops along its route will be clearly marked showing the shuttle logo. Pocket-sized timetables will be available widely at the railway station, and in shops. It took four years of persistent negotiation eventually to obtain a licence from the National Transport Authority. The initial costs of launching the shuttle service are being funded by a grant from Fingal County Council, a similar contribution from Malahide Credit Union with further funding being made available by Malahide Community Forum. Malahide Coaches will operate the service as a commercial undertaking without any financial subsidy. To be a success, therefore, it will need to be used by a sufficient number of passengers to ensure its continuing viability.
