MESSAGE FROM OUR EXALTER RULER —
Dear Brother and Sister Elks, Does, Friends and Supporters,
September has been a very busy month for the Lodge. We had our annual picnic on Sunday, the September 19th. It was Western-themed, with everyone dressed in their best cowboy and cowgirl outfits. Plenty of barbeque, drink and laughter!
The District Deputy and his entourage came on Tuesday, September 21. We installed two new members: Welcome to Jeffrey Stone and Joseph Huestis. To all my Officers, a big THANK YOU! A Tip of the Hat to our Leading Knight, Joseph Sanchez, who had surgery Friday, came home Saturday and participated in the ritual Tuesday. God bless you, Joe — now get some rest!
The annual Veterans dinner will be held Thursday, October 28. Veterans from the New York VA hospitals will be coming to Port Washington for some Elks hospitality. Let’s show our support. Volunteers are needed to help out.
Don’t let the ghouls and goblins scare you – our Halloween party is Friday, October 29. All proceeds from this event go to the ENF.
November brings the DD and SVP homecomings along with the Does’ annual Fashion Show.
May the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly love and Fidelity guide you in all your endeavors! I hope that this bulletin finds you all in good health and prosperity.
Fraternally yours,
Robert GiglioExalted Ruler

Message from the
Grand Exalted Ruler
Michael F. Smith
To All District Deputies, Exalted Rulers,
Officers and Members:
In our visits to the states, Sandra and I are
continuously amazed and impressed with all the
wonderful work that is being done for and in the name
of Elkdom. We appreciate the greetings and well
wishes from everyone we meet.
As you are aware, it is National Foundation Month and I
hope your Lodge fundraisers were successful in
attaining the goal of $4.50 per capita for the year. The
Elks National Foundation is the Heart of Elkdom and
your donations the lifeblood. Please encourage every
Member in your Lodge to keep an active certificate.
Next month our focus will be on our Veterans
Programs. Every community across our great nation
should take some time to honor its military servicemen
and women and recognize their families. What an
opportune time to Adopt-A-Vet during the Veterans
Appreciation month.
This month, "Promote Elks Passion" by getting others
involved. Pep up your programs. Ask a friend, neighbor
or co-worker to join your Lodge. They might be waiting
for your invitation. If each Member contributes time,
talent and/or resources, we will make a huge positive
impact in our communities. If your Lodge membership
needs a boost, you should be the catalyst. Too many
times we look to someone else to take care of things
when we should accept the challenge. Increase your
membership numbers for maximum impact in your
community and everyone will benefit.
Many Lodges have a Red Ribbon Week this month to
coincide with Drug Awareness Education. Be a
volunteer and visit schools to hand out Elks Drug
Awareness material to the students and help make a
difference in a child's life. The more we can teach
about the dangers of drug abuse, the safer our
children. Their future depends on us.
With the many challenges facing us in these difficult
times, it is imperative we communicate – Elks Can
Make a Difference. Help us grow!
