New Kaneko ShowThe Kaneko Gallery hosts “Under the Influence,” the psychedelic paintings of Galine Tumasova, and “All In,” copper-infused ceramic vessels of Christopher Max Thompson, Oct. 19-29. There will be an opening reception Tues., Oct. 20 at 12noon and a closing reception Thurs., Oct. 29 at 3pm. Gallery hours are M-Th 11am-4pm, F 11am-2pm.
Plan Feedback NeededThe Student Success and Support Program (SSSP) plan is now available for viewing and comment. Financial Resource FaireThe Center for Leadership and Development, in partnership with the Financial Aid Office, presents its annual Financial Resource Faire Oct. 21 & 22, 10am-3pm in the Student Center. Workshops will be held in Community Room 3 both days 10:45am-2:45pm. The goal of the event is to educate and inform our students, staff, and others about personal financial awareness by presenting workshops on financial topics that impact our students throughout their academic life. Topics include financial aid literacy, personal taxes, scholarships/grants, affordable health care, resources for undocumented students, Veterans benefits, and much more. Please encourage students to participate. There will be a financial literacy trivia contest with prizes from 11:30am-1:30pm.
Math Assessment PreparationARC is offering assessment preparation workshops for students who need to refresh their math skills and improve their assessment scores for higher course placement. Math faculty lead these refresher workshops and will be available to assist and answer all questions. All workshops are held in Learning Resource Center room 104. Assistance will be focused on pre-algebra, elementary algebra, and intermediate algebra content. The workshops are free and no pre-registration is needed. Health Fair Oct. 28Mark your calendars for a District Health Fair Wed., Oct. 28, 1:30-3:30pm in the Student Center Community Rooms. This will be the only FSA Open Enrollment workshop held at ARC this fall. In addition, the event will include information about the Living Healthy Los Rios Wellness Program, including the upcoming Healthy Selfie challenge (to be announced at the health fair), health insurance, health screenings, nutrition, financial health, and retirement. Stop by for a chance to win raffle prizes, such as college bookstore giveaways, gift certificates for groceries and sporting goods, and much more!

She serves as the Co-Founder and Community Input Director of LezRideSA and as Board member for the San Antonio Pride Center. Alejandro Murguía is the author of Southern Front and This War Called Love (both winners of the American Book Award). Currently he is a professor in Latina Latino Studies at San Francisco State University. He is the Sixth San Francisco Poet Laureate and the first Latino poet to hold the position. This activity meets state PD guidelines A, B, F; ARC college objectives 1.2, 2.2, 3.2, 3.3, 4.2; and ISLOs 2, 3, 6, 7.
