Business innovation: collaborating with industries to enable tech companies to co-innovate and prototype innovative technologies
The infocomm security masterplans provide the strategic directions to guide Singapore's national efforts to enhance cyber security for public, private and
people sectors. The first Infocomm Security Masterplan (2005-2007) initiated Singapore’s coordinated approach to secure Singapore’s infocomm environment with key emphasis on providing public sector with capabilities
to mitigate cyber threats. In 2008, the ISMP was succeeded by the second Masterplan (2008-2012) that strove to make Singapore a ‘Secure
and Trusted Hub’ with special attention paid on the nation’s critical

infocomm infrastructure (CII).
A new five-year National Cyber Security Masterplan 2018 (NCSM2018) will
continue to reinforce Singapore’s cyber security by intensifying efforts in the Government and CII as well as the wider infocomm ecosystem which includes businesses and individuals. It is developed through a multi-agency
effort led by IDA under the guidance of the National Infocomm Security Committee.
Standardisation (iDA and SPRING) The IDA Standards Team plays a key role in fostering and facilitating the industry's participation in local and international ICT standards. SPRING
Singapore appointed 11 Standards Committee under the National Standards Council.

Neil Cross - Managing Director and Chief Innovation Officer, is building the
Bank’s capacity to innovate and adapt to the disruptive market
developments of the future. An industry veteran with stints in senior
management at Microsoft and Mastercard, Cross is an industry thought
leader, with more than 20 years of experience in technology, innovation and
financial services.
DBS is to preparing for dealing with the disruptions that the different FINTECH developments bring. E-commerce changed how they approach data and innovation. DBS currently have a joint research lab with ASTAR on how to solve problems with data, focusing on data innovation. DBS is focused on
developing human-cognitive equivalent technology. A recent example is where DBS engaged the IBM Watson program for the wealth management
segment. There’s also significant effort in growing internal capability in human-centred design, as well as lean startup methodologies to be rapid
and agile as an organisation.
DBS is exploring blockchain and conducting a blockchain hackathon this
year, as collaboration between SMU and Startupbootcamp. They are not
primarily interested in the currencies but the technologies.

9:00 Small group of participants (~5-7 people, students) are invited to take part at iDeasinc Startathon. IdeasInc is a startup accelerator that invests time and resources to go in
early and discover rock-stars, transforming ideas into actionable solutions and products. Ideasinc organises #startathon which integrates rapid
prototyping into traditional hackathon. The entire hackathon runs for 30 hours, and participants are encouraged to stay over the night. Throughout the #startathon, there will be masterclasses for the participants
and screening of movies. All meals provided, including a snack bar with drinks, fruits and snacks.
At the end of the 30 hours, teams will have actual smart products (IoT) to present. This year, IdeasInc scrapped the traditional on-stage
pitching/presentation, and adapted experiential booth showcase. Teams are allocated a space where they will create their own booth from scratch.
