The new playground equipment and swing set will be installed on Tuesday, October 14 th ! The Allan Parks & Recreation Board hopes you are as excited as we are to see Centennial Park come to life! A special shout out to the Allan Bowl & Recreation Center as they contributed a very gener- ous donation of $525.00 raised from the Ladies Night last spring for the playground equipment. We cannot thank you enough for your support! Also – a huge thank you to everyone that purchased a raffle ticket for our Playground Raffle! The winners were $50.00 – Brian & Brenda Bes- wick, $150.00 – Agnes & Richard Hernter, $300.00 – Mary Virtue. Congratulations and thanks again! With the community’s help we raised $540.00 from the Playground Raffle to be put towards installation costs. If you are interested in volunteering on Tues, Oct. 14 th , we are in need of people to remove dirt from the area, unpack the equipment and begin assembly starting at 9:00 AM. Allan Parks & Recreation: We are officially into fall!

Remember our new Population Growth Program. You can get up to $7,000.00 in tax credits for building a new house in Allan. We still have

good lots available on Alpine Crescent, reasonably priced, starting at $33,000.00.

Council now requires that all trailers, recreational vehicles, automobiles and other equipment and goods be removed from town owned land. There

are liability issues with respect to these items/vehicles being on public property, and this will be enforced. This includes areas behind Sylvite Cres-

cent, on the Alpine Crescent subdivision or anywhere in town where your belongings are parked on publically owned vacant lots or land. As well,

we have toured the town recently and there are approximately 20 recreation vehicles parked on the streets. These must be removed as soon as

Allan Elk’s News

On Sept. 6th the Elks held a Steak Supper and Social

Evening at the Elks Hall. Thank you to everyone who

came out.

At the meeting on Sept. 11th, I was presented with my

Past Exalted Ruler's pin, I was the Elks president for 6

years and now I look forward to working with our new

Elks President Mike Dukart.

The Elks celebrated 30 years of hosting bingos at their

Appreciation Bingo on Sept. 19th. We had 65 bingo play-

ers come out to help celebrate this special event. The Elks

were honored to receive a Bingo Plaque from the Houle

Family. The late Paul Houle was the one who founded the

Elks Bingos.

On Sept. 24th the Elks presented the Proficiency Awards

at the Allan School Award Night. Congrats go out to

Brooklyn Legare, Anna Shearer, Lucy Senger, Madison

Allen and Shawnda Swenson.

Elaine Sherriff welcomed 23 members at the

Dessert Meeting on Sept. 9th, 2014. Treasurer

Bill Beaton reported that New Horizons had

received a Grant of $564.43. Members were

reminded to nominate a person for the Volunteer

Medal – Deadline - Oct. 18th, 2014. Geralynne

Holtorf was hired for the cleaning position at the

center. Gary O’Connell (Rug Cleaner) did an

excellent job! Looks great! Ramp was painted

with a non-skid paint, THANKS to Lou L., Ran-

The Museum is officially closed for the

2014 season. The summer just zipped by. Thank you to

all of our Artifact lenders & donors, visitors and support-

ers. We had a busy season with just under 700 visitors.

We enjoyed your visits and your thirst for knowledge

about the Community you live in. It was great to see so

many children visit the Museum this summer.

Themes for next year are being discussed so that we can

have all new displays for 2015. Watch for the Museum

Bible Study: Resumes on Wednesday, October 8th at 2:00 p.m. in the Church welcome area. The study is

on the Psalms. Bring a notebook, bring a friend. Drop in for one, two, a few, or all sessions. You may also

Prayer Chain Ministry: This ministry exists to respond in prayer and is available for everyone's use.

Your request may be for anything that is important to you. When a request for prayer is received, the head of

the prayer chain will be notified and will activate the chain with the requested prayer. All prayer chain requests

will be kept confidential, and may be made anonymously if so desired. To make a prayer request, or to become
