OCT. 31, 2017 THE CHURCH VISITOR With Thanksgiving and Grateful Hearts, We Serve This past Sunday I preached about Edifica’on and how important it is to offer encouragement and gra8tude for those enjoined in this journey. Just think, if each week, each day, each Sunday we came into worship being thankful for those around us and all they do…I think we would see a tremendous upliAing of joy and gra8tude if all of us made this a mission. I believe people would be raised up in their faith, and each successive 8me we offered encouragement to each other, our feelings for one another would grow and grow. In a world filled with such cynicism and nega8vity, church should be a place where good things and posi8ve thoughts are nurtured and reinforced through encouraging each other and liAing each other up in our most holy faith. As we look toward a busy 8me of year and the Holidays, which are oAen 8mes of great stress for varied reasons, let’s make a commitment here and now: a commitment to show the love of God to one another, a commitment to extend grace and mercy to one another, a commitment to Edify and liA up each and every member of our church. Show the world what church can be! Easter Special Offering 3908 Ruth Road Richland Hills, TX 76118 (817)284-8679 Senior Pastor: Paul Klaus Website: www.rhccdoc.com E-mail: [email protected]

Decorating the Church - Sunday, November 19

We will decorate on Sunday, Nov. 19, after the Thanksgiving dinner. We need everyone’s help to get the church ready for the Advent season. We are trying something new this year.

We will have a sign-up sheet in the Gathering Area on Sunday, Nov. 5, for families, individuals, committees, and friends to sign-up for a particular task to be completed. Once your task is done, you are finished.

We would really like everyone’s help this year to make the church beautiful. By splitting up the jobs to do, we feel this will help accomplish the task and not burden those few who always stay to decorate.

The Hanging of the Greens Service will be Sunday, Nov. 26, so all the decorating needs to be finished before that Sunday morning. If you can’t stay on the 19th to help, you have a week to complete the task you signed up for. Please sign-up to help us get ready for the Advent season.

BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES

On December 10th at 5pm, our choir will be performing the Christmas Cantata at Bethany Christian where Pastor Lisa is serving.

I would like as many as possible from our church to consider going over to Dallas to support Bethany, as well as our choir that evening.

As we draw closer to the date, perhaps we can set up some car pools or even rent a van to get people over there.

Something to think about well in advance.

A Little “BRITE”ness from Linda From a book titled Say Yes To Life: A Book of Thoughts for Better Living by Sidney Greenberg:

“Greatness is a matter not of size but of quality; and it is within the reach of every one of us. Greatness lies in the faithful performance of whatever duties life places upon us and in the generous performance of the small acts of kindness that God has made possible for us. There is greatness in patient endurance; in unyielding loyalty to a goal; in resistance to the temptation to betray a confidence; in speaking up for the truth when it is assailed; in steadfast adherence to vows given and promises made. God does not ask us to do extraordinary things but, instead, asks us to do ordinary things extraordinarily well. Let none of us say that greatness has passed us by. If we wish it very much, it can be ours. Of each of us it can be said, as was of an actor who had played minor roles for twenty-five years: “He was indispensable in small parts.” Each of us has a job to do that will remain undone if we do not do it. Each of us has love that only we can give. Each of us has compassion that will be denied to the world if we suppress it. We are each indispensable in our small parts and each part is gilded with a glory all its own.”

Blessings, Linda Barnette
