Greetings,

Festival Celebration - Our Parish Festival just concluded on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 and was a success. The success of our festival was very well planned and executed by the different committees formed for the festival. Our Council was very much integral part in the

success because the set up and tear down of the different parts: very large tent, pop up tents, ta-bles – games and dining, table covers, electrical conduit and supply, tear down, clean up and secur-ing everything used during the festival. Addition-ally, we also participated in the Saturday Festival dinner. Some Council brother knights’ wives con-tributed to the food and dessert for sale at the Fes-tival. Beloved Sir Knights,

What a fun weekend our Parish Festival turned out to be! The weather wasn’t too hot and the Knights booth was in perfect smelling dis-tance from Fr. Leon’s Polish Sausage Booth. We also were always in hearing dis-tance from his accordion music.

As you know, we Knights (Council and Assembly) should “Always Be Recruiting.” That should be your motto. If you are around a 1st Degree Knight, you should be asking him when are you moving up to the 2nd & 3rd Degree? We all know how to get a hold of Brother SK Jess Velasco our Worthy Chancellor. He has all the dates and times for the upcoming exemplifications. If you don’t have his contact information, here it is 1+ (916) 502-2751 (cell #) or [email protected] is his email.

We need to keep all of our Brothers & SK’s plus their family members in your prayers especially those with medical issues. I won’t mention names but there are a growing number that ap-preciate your thoughts and your prayers. Believe in the power of prayers!

Color Corp at the 5pm Mass, wear your Council shirt w/ badge or Assembly shirt w/ badge, let’s plan on sitting together with Knights and spouses or significant others also. It would be nice to have Knights as lectors, collectors, ushers and EM’s. Let’s step up for this one.

October 6th – Trophy Case: After the Corporate Mass we will process to the Knights trophy case in the narthex to place our trophies, plaques, and awards. I am asking that our Worthy Sr. District Marshall SK Tim Fukuda, our Worthy Color Corp Commander SK Larry Navarrette and our Worthy Faithful Admiral SK Terry Rees together place our State of California Color Corp trophy in the case as these 3 exemplary Knights are most responsi-ble for this achievement.

October 20th – Altar Consecration: Bishop

Soto, Father Leon, Father Ed and our Deacons

will consecrate the altar and bless the stained

glass at the 5pm Mass. Color Corp will be there

ments will be discussed and voted upon. All amend-ments and/or new by-laws do not become effective until officially approved by the Supreme." I am profoundly grateful for the dedication and in-terest of the CBL Committee members, Chaired by SK Dave Magnino, to dissect, research, and amend our CBL to be pertinent, material, and relevant to our Council. I am also encouraged to pursue to amend our CBL by the members who are interested and willing to share and devote their time and tal-ents to achieve our respective goal - to amend our CBL. We will follow the present CBL to amend our CBL as indicated above. Again, I hope we will complete the process of amendment according to SK Dave Magnino by January 2019. Worthy Treasurer – Worthy Treasurer Roy Tufts is now recovering at Kaiser South from injuries that resulted from his near fatal accident last week. Please pray for his painful procedures and speedy recovery. We believe that Power of our prayers work wonders. Recruitment of New Members – Worthy Chancel-lor Jess Velasco is actively recruiting candidates for exemplification. During our Festival set up and festi-val celebration, Worthy Chancellor Jess was able to sign several Form 100s. He will set up the process and we hope to see several candidates for first de-gree exemplification. And incidentally, you are all encouraged to invite your family members, friends and fellow parishioners to join our council. On Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, we completed our first degree exemplification for Brother Steven Seus. We also welcome SK Agosto Saka, SK Patrick Coun-cil, SK Nick Suarez who transferred from other Councils to our Laguna Knights Council. Of course, we welcome them all to our brotherhood with open and warm arms.

Color Corps - St. John Paul II Assembly #3504

4

OCT 2018

St. John Paul ll Assembly 3504 Color Corps: The month of September 2018, was a normal month for our St. John Paul II Assembly 3504 Color

Corps. The Color Corps participated in a few Call Outs for September. On Satur-day, September 8, 2018 our California State Champions Color Corps Team was invited to participate and perform at the 126 Exemplification Ceremony of the 4th Degree Northern California St. Junipero Serra Province, in the City of Brentwood, California, Oakland Diocese. The Team had to leave very early at 6:00 am and carpooled to Brentwood, Contra Costa County, CA. As our team was not a com-petition team, but one of two exhibition teams: “I am proud to say that had our team been a competition team, we would have won First Place.

On Monday, September 17, 2018, the Color Corps had a Funeral Service Ceremony Call Out for the recent passing of SK Charles Nulk, PFN, PCP, FDD, PGK of Bishop Manogue Assembly 50. The Holy Vigil and Mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sacramento. “Garden of Innocence Funeral Services” was postponed and will be held in the month of Octo-ber. The services are held at Sierra-East Lawn Cemetery whenever Garden of Innocence Sierra (Sacramento area) receives a baby (babies) to bury. This service is a very solemn funeral ser-vice. Garden of Innocence Funeral Services provides dignified burials for abandoned and unidenti-fied children in order that no child leaves this earth without someone who cared. Unnamed babies are given names, and given a Burial Service Ceremony. St John Paul ll, Assembly 3504, Color Corps will be at attendance for two babies’ burials this next month. I will soon be scheduling Basic Training Drills the month of October. The tentative training days will be held on Saturdays after 5:00 pm Mass due to busy use of the G.S.C.C. facilities. This will be a re-view and practice for our present Color Corps members, and new procedures for our new members. Keep this in mind Practice makes Winners. Respectfully Submitted, SK CCC Larry T. Navarrette St John Paul ll, Assembly 3504 Vivat Jesus!

Chancellor’s Report

Please welcome the newest addition to our council, Steven Suess. And also, con-

gratulations to Brother Alex Avera who advanced to 3rd degree.

At the Parish Festival, a good number of “good catholic men” filled out Form 100. I

am hoping to get them all interviewed and be presented to the body at the next

Council meeting. Thanks to the Brothers who showed up and in their own way

helped in the recruiting effort.

Our recruiting quota remains at 15. But we may have to recruit more than our quota to get that elu-

sive “star council” award. At any rate, let’s come up with the “15” and let someone else decide

whether we get the award or not.

REMEMBER: Every Member is a Recruiter!

At your service,

SK Jess Velasco
