NAREB “Insider”. This quarterly newsletter is designed
to keep you informed, provide resources, highlight our
membership, chapters and corporate sponsors. Feel

Women’s Council of NAREB, Inc. installs 23rd President
Rolanda Wilson from Oakland, CA was
sworn in as the 23rd President of the
Women’s Council of the NAREB on
August 17, 2015 in Houston, TX by Past
President Joan Chambers.
Women’s Council Scholarship Luncheon & Installation Women’s Council held their annual scholarship and installation luncheon. The lunch-
eon highlights included: the installation of 23rd National President, Rolanda Wilson
and her executive team; the 2014 presentation of the ACME award recipient, Denise
Kelley of Houston, TX; the presentation to the Wounded Warrior recipients; and
acknowledgement of the Katrina D. Henry Scholarship recipients.

Women’s Council of NAREB, Inc. Indiana Chapter
The Women’s Council of NAREB’s is delighted to welcome its newest chapter, President, Jamesha Norwood, and members of the Indiana chapter. The chapter was chartered on August 17, 2015 during NAREB’s annual convention. They were warmly greeted by our Past President, Melinda Dightman and our Board of Governors.
President Rolanda Wilson launched Women’s
Council’s newest initiative Fundamental
Investments in Real Estate Management®
(FIRM®). FIRM was launched in Houston, TX
on Saturday, August 22, 2015. FIRM®. FIRM
is a mentorship program that targets low to
moderate income high school teenagers
(ages 16-18). President Rolanda’s initiative
is designed to demonstrate how finances
play a major role in the success of an adult;
how to prepare for the job market; how to
position oneself for success as a future
homeowner; increase sustainability and re-
sponsibility for homeownership for families
within the communities. FIRM® will be
launching in other local chapters across the
United States in 2016. Special acknowledge-
ments to NID Housing Counseling Agency for partnering with Women’s Council to
launch this initiative and their support in providing First Time Homebuyer Counseling to
parents of our mentees.
Fundamentals Investments in Real Estate Management (FIRM)
Katrina D. Henry Scholarship
This scholarship program was formed in 1992 in
honor of Katrina D. Henry, Women’s Council
past president. Her primary mission who was
to educate, mentor and motivate young adults.
At the 44th Annual Scholarship & Installation Luncheon we
awarded 20 scholarships to the following individuals:

Harriett W. Clark Shared Down Payment Assistance Grant
The Down Payment Assistance Program was developed in honor
of Harriett W. Clark, former first lady of NAREB, for low and moder-
ate income families to achieve the dream of homeownership. This
program is open to first time home buyers and provides needed
assistance towards the down payment or closing costs. The pro-
gram provides up to $1,500 in assistance paid directly to the title
company and is a gift.

Gifted Homes Program
This program is designed for our lender partners to
donate homes to Women’s Council in an effort to sup-
port homeownership for low to moderate income fam-
ilies. When homes are donated, they are rehabbed
and sold through the normal sales process utilizing
NAREB real estate professionals. Portions of the
proceeds are allocated to our scholarship program.
Financial Literacy Program
Women’s Council local chapters contin-
ue to reach out to their communities to
provide financial literacy classes. Over
the past year, Women’s Council local chapters have
conducted classes in schools, transition centers and
various community venues. Over the past year, our
chapters have educated over 1,098 students.
