OCIMF - Our Purpose & Organisation
Identify emerging issues of mutual concern relating to marine transportation, terminal handling of hydrocarbons, and offshore support vessels. To seek solutions, raise standards and reduce incidents. Actively promoting continuous improvement of operations and design with particular reference to the protection of the marine environment and the promotion of safety.
OCIMF – CORE OBJECTIVES.Standards To identify safety and environmental issues facing oil tanker, barge, terminal and offshore marine operations, and develop and publish best practice as benchmarks.Regulatory To contribute to the development of international conventions and regulations that enhance the safe construction and operation of oil tankers, barges, offshore support vessels and terminals.
Consultation To promote the ratification and implementation of international conventions and regulations. Enforcement To encourage Flag States, port states and classification societies in their enforcement of international conventions and regulations. Promulgation To facilitate access by charterers and authorities to data on tankers, barges and offshore support vessels relating to safety and pollution prevention, through development of appropriate programmes.Promotion To actively promote OCIMF’s role in the development of safety and environmental guidelines and recommendations.

WORK BY OBJECTIVE - Regulation
A bespoke methodology which models emission trajectories and their likely ranges to:• Provide an improved
prediction with a greater data set whilst quantifying the impact of a limited data set;
• Help assess the overall effectiveness of abatement measures;
• Provide emission trajectories from shipping based on real industry data.

At the Industry level• Help assess the true effectiveness (taking into
account reduction potential, time to maturity, vessel operation, retrofit/newbuild, etc) of abatement measures and the time lag for benefits to be seen.
• Help identify effectiveness combinations of measures.
• Perform “What if” scenarios to assist fleet planning.• Provide emission trajectories from shipping based
