DEAR MEMBERS

For 38 years the Medical Center at Ocean Reef has enabled us to have a quality of healthcare that is unique to our island paradise. This care has dramatically improved over the years. Flash back to the early 70’s with one physician and a station wagon on duty as the “community ambulance”. Fast forward to today and see how far we have come. We may be the only private community to off er such varied and complete health care, giving us peace of mind as we live at Ocean Reef.

From routine care of the sniffl es to a CT scan of your heart, the Medical Center accommodates over 15,000 patient visits each year. Same day appointments without delay, dedicated staff and providers who know your medical history and care about you as a person, is an anomaly in today’s busy and overtaxed medical world. Where else can you pull into the parking lot via golf cart and be seen within minutes? You know that it is special from the start.

Our range of services provide physical therapy and sports medicine, a subscription Private Medicine Program, laboratory, and diagnostics; EKG, CT, digital X-ray, ultrasound and bone densitometry– now with sub-specialized radiologists reading all imaging studies.

Through our visiting specialists program we are able to off er audiology, cardiology, colonoscopy/endoscopy, MOHS surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, gynecology, neurology, neuropsychiatry, ophthalmology, optometry, orthopedics, podiatry, psychology, and pulmonary sleep disorders. This is a convenience to our patients, saving time and aggravation of driving to Miami or beyond. Our mission is simply to provide the best, most complete health care possible right here at Ocean Reef.

The Medical Center and Medical Center Foundation provide informative medical education events. The Foundation holds a monthly lecture at the Cultural Center with speakers from around the nation providing up to date information on advances in medicine. For more personal interaction with leading health care providers, the Medical Center “Nights Out” are always well att ended.

Without the Medical Center it would be diffi cult at best to resideat Ocean Reef, so it is our sincere hope that you will support this valuable institution and encourage your fellow members to do the same.

As you examine the pages of our annual report you will see friends and neighbors giving selfl essly of themselves not only in terms of fi nancial support but also of their valuable time. SERVICES

The Medical Center’s focus is primary care dedicated to providing the best possible care to the Ocean Reef Community. Our clinical staff is comprised of four full-time providers, and registered, licensed practical nurses and medical assistants giving us the ability to provide a number of expanded services year round. Some of the services off ered are:

• Private Medicine Program

• Executive physicals

• Annual physicals

• A lab with advanced testing support using Quest Diagnostics

• State of the art Seimens digital X-ray

• 64 slice CT Scan

• Bone Densitometry

• Cardiac stress testing and echocardiograms

• Limited minor surgical procedures

• Electrocardiograms

• Blood pressure checks

• Pre-operative testing/ blood, chest X-ray, EKG

• Suturing

• Wound care

• Emergency triage

• Respiratory and hydration therapy

• Limited intravenous medications

• Pulmonary function testing

• Therapeutic phlebotomy

• In certain circumstances house calls by our physicians and/or nurses

• After hours on-call providers

The Medical Center’s seasonal nature and our highly personalized medical care services cause us to operate at a signifi cant annual defi cit. As a result the Medical Center Founders Society was established in 1994 to provide an endowment fund to insure the economic viability of the Medical Center’s operation. Since 1994 over 600 residents in our Community have become members of the Founders Society by agreeing to contribute a minimum of $25,000. In addition, many have made additional contributions to become Super Founders 50,000.00+, Lead Donors 100,000+, Cornerstone Donors 250,000+, Guardian 500,000+ and Guardian Trustee 1,000,000+. All Founders are recognized with an inscription of their names in the Medical Center lobby and participate in our Founders Society benefi ts program. The Founders Society is open to all members of the Ocean Reef Community and we urge you to participate. You will be supporting an absolutely indispensable facility for the Community and a safety net for your own healthcare needs. We believe that with our Medical Center for “on the Reef care” and our Founders Benefi ts, that our Founders Society Members have the best medical protection package in the world.

Founders Society Benefi ts include:

Ocean Reef Hospitalists - personalized access to Homestead and Baptist Hospital (main campus) on Kendall Drive through the on-site Ocean Reef hospitalist program. In the event of an emergency visit to either of these hospitals the Ocean Reef hospitalist will facilitate your emergency room visit .

Ocean Reef Healthnetwork -This service provides priority access to an extensive network of America’s top hospitals to help with researching, networking and arranging your care.

MedjetAssist - Special group rates for this premier travel assistance service. MedjetAssist transports members who require hospitalization or need urgent medical care and are more than 150 miles from their home.
