Occupy London General Assembly Agenda Template (Template is approved by the Occupy London General Assembly.) Introduction 1. A thankful welcome 2. Read Safe Space Statement: Everyone has a right to feel safe and valuable. Safe space is a communal responsibility. It means being safe from sexual harassment, physical assault, religion, verbal threat and abuse, racism, sexism, colonialism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, gender-role enforcement and all forms of oppression. We encourage the whole assembly to develop their own sense of what a safe space society would look and feel like. We encourage everyone to be conscious and respectful of the safety and well being of others. 3. Explain and demonstrate the hand signals and the process. a. Temperature checks involve signs for approval/disapproval using jazz hands. b. A point of addition, the wish to add a relevant point to the conversation, can be expressed by raising your hands in a triangle above your head. c. A point of Interjection, the wish to question or clarify a point in the conversation, can be expressed by raising your hands above you making an arc. d. A block is the most serious signal-only to be used to show strong disagreement and in a case where you will leave the assembly if your issue is not addressed. Please use hand signals to join in the dialogue, and be patient in waiting for your turn on the list of speakers created by the moderator. Please keep personal comments and additions that are off subject for the nodes/spokes councils. Updates and Committees 1. News and Updates from global occupations via Media committee 2. Updates from Committees;FacilitationMediaEventsLibraryFoodLegalTreasurySanitation Nodes/Spokes Councils At this point in the meeting, we will break up into nodes/spokes councils to give everyone an opportunity to express his or her personal opinions on a subject. Topics that were suggested at the facilitation meeting should be suggested and put forward to the assembly now. Everyone should remember that within the nodes/spokes council we need to designate a person to be a note taker and presenter, and someone else to be a facilitator to ensure a direction and efficiency to the meeting. Nodes/spokes councils are composed of 4-8 people. There will be 25 minutes of discussion before we should as a small group begin to review our notes to come to consensus on what points we should bring forth to General Assembly. Then we can re-assemble, and all hear each other’s voices in this organized fashion. Look immediately around you, introduce yourself, and break into groups.
