Objectives

Discussions on UNEP climate change initiatives in Central Asia, update on project status, achievements so far and plan for 2012‐13 including remaining months in 2011;

Bring Climate Change Focal Points and Experts together and exchange views and ideas on

Major challenges to address climate change (e.g. types of capacity gaps, knowledge and information gaps, gaps in policies and legislation etc.)

Priorities and support needs to overcome those challenges

Synergies between adaptation and mitigation

Promote networking to build mutual understanding on CC issues among climate change focal points and experts

Expected Outcomes

Climate Change Focal Points and Experts are up to date on activities, achievements and have a collective agreement on future activities;

Two technologies pre country selected and an agreed work plan for delivering activities under Phase‐II of Capacity Building in Development of Policy Framework for Promotion of Low Carbon Emission Societies in Central Asia;

Findings on gaps to address adaptation validated and an agreed work plan for delivering adaptation related activities (knowledge generation, capacity building etc)
