Bulimia: a cycle of bingeing (eating large amounts) on food and then purging (throwing up, diarrhea)
Statistics
Females are more likely than males to develop eating disorders (about 7 to 1 ratio)
Approximately 86% of victims reported the age of onset before age 20
Approximately 77% reported the duration of their illness from 1 to 15 years
Only 50% report being cured
