(Bud) Abbie Sr., 52, of Tool, died March 13, 1990 at his residence. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Thurman Boatright officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. He was born and raised in Corsicana and served in the Air Force, Army and Navy. He was a past commander of the DAV No. 223 and a member of the Christian Life Fellowship of Gun Barrel. Survivors include his wife, Betty Abbie of Tool; two sons, James E. Abbie Jr. Of Portland, Tex., and Ted Abbie of Las Vegas; two daughters, Margie Starkey of Three Forks, Mont., and Debra Ware of Georgetown, Tex.; one brother Robert Abbie of Murphy, Tex.; one sister Mary Lea Murray of DeSoto; eight grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Scott Murray, Steve Murray, Bobby Abbie, Johnny Watts, Lee Allen and Delbert Litchfield. Honary pallbearers will be Clyde Benson, Harvey Thompson, David Koonce, Ray Cornwell and Larry Stout. James E. (Bud) Abbie Sr., 52, of Tool, died March 13, 1990 at his residence. Services are 10a.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Thurman Boatright officiating. Burialwill follow at Oakwood Cemetery. He was born and raised in Corsicana and served in the AirForce, Army and Navy. Bobby Allen, 70, of Corsicana, went to be with the Lord June 30, 2008. He was born October 20,1937 in Corsicana.

Bobby was a great dad and a wonderful husband. He enjoyed riding motorcycles. He retired fromShell Oil Offshore Drilling after 30 years of service. He will be greatly missed by all who knewand loved him.

He is survived by wife Pam Allen of Corsicana, daughters Ashley Palmeri and Alissa Palmeri,and mother Faye Bates of Corsicana. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Michaeland Mary Beth Parrish and Thomas and Tricia Dockery; father and mother-in-law Donald andMarlene Parrish. Other survivors are nephews and nieces Danny and Marcia Ward, Michael andMegan Dockery, Matt Parrish; and great nephews and nieces Jason and Kyle Ward, Kealey andKieran Parrish, and McKinna Dockery. Helen Baldauf

Helen Baldauf Puryear, 46, and her husband C. D. Puryear Jr., both of Dallas, were killed in atwo-truck accident Friday night near Richland on I-45.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Corley Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at OakwoodCemetery.

They are both survived by a son, Dennis Hall, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Claire Weaverand Marie Wilson, both of Dallas and four grandchildren.

She is also survived by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Baldauf of Fort Worth.

He is also survived by his mother, Mary Ethel Puryear of North Carolina; two brothers, GeorgePuryear of North Carolina and Wallace Puryear of Dallas; six sisters, Mrs. Pauline Faircloth ofDallas and Virgie Watson, Mary O’Briant, Virginia Bardin, Carolyn Ray and Mildred Johnson ofNorth Carolina.

John Callicutt

John Spencer Callicutt III of Richland-Chambers Reservoir area entered into eternal rest onThursday, Sept. 20, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, John Spencer Callicutt Jr. Heis survived by his mother, Clellia Mae Hilliard Callicutt of Corsicana; his wife, Margaret; hisdaughter, Cylynne Grace Callicutt of Crosby; his son, Johnathan Callicutt and wife Lisa ofCrosby; his grandchildren, Clayton Spencer and Hayley Nicole Callicutt of Crosby; his brother,Jack Callicutt and wife Sandra of Holly Lake Ranch; and nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Born on Nov. 29, 1938, in Taft, his family returned to the Corsicana home of his grandparents,Judge John Spencer Callicutt and Evelina, when he was 12 years of age. He graduated fromCorsicana High School in 1956, completed two years at Navarro College and transferred to NorthTexas State College. He graduated from NTSC in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in businessadministration. While at NTSC, he met Margaret Bennett — the love of his life and his wife of46 years. Upon graduation, John enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his countryas a member of the 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood. When honorably discharged in September1964, he and Margaret relocated to Houston with the two absolute joys of his life — his daughterand his son. While in Houston, John was employed for 29 years with Westinghouse Electric andfour years at Eaton Cutler-Hammer in the position of inside sales. He retired in 1998.While hischildren were growing up, John was active in Jacinto City Little League serving both as a coachand president of the league. He also coached Pop Warner football. He loved the outdoors,especially the Texas Hill Country. He loved sports, especially UT football. He was an avidfisherman and looked forward to every spring as the crappie filled his cove at the lake. Hisgreatest love, however, was time spent with his family and friends.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at Corley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6to 8 p.m. today. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Mike Alexander and theRev. Warren Green officiating. Interment will follow at the family plot at Oakwood Cemetery.Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Don Atkeisson of Corsicana, Johnny Baggett of Seattle,Wash., and John Barron of Corsicana. Pallbearers will be Don Cofer of Corsicana, BobbyCarpenter of Corsicana, Jay Estes of McKinney, Stan Niece of Plano, Alan Taylor of Cypress andKeith Young of Hill Top Lakes. Billy Jack Curtis, 63, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 at Baylor Hospital inDallas.

Mr. Curtis was born Nov. 23, 1937 in Corsicana to Thomas and Billie Curtis. After graduatingfrom Corsicana High School in 1956, he attended Navarro Junior College. He served in the U.S.Army in Korea where he obtained the rank of captain. In 1961 he married Sandra Shell ofCorsicana. He completed his college education at the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A.in petroleum land management in 1964. He spent many years as a petroleum landman inCalifornia, Louisiana and Texas. Upon retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis moved to NavarroCounty where he enjoyed community service, church activities, outdoor adventures, travel, Texasfootball games, golfing and spending time with family.

Mrs. Harvey Leichter, 28, of Waco, the former Mary Lou Daniels of Corsicana, died Wednesdayat 6 a.m. in Hillcrest Hospital in Waco after an 18-months illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Wilkerson and Hatch Funeral Homein Waco with graveside services at 11:30 a.m at the Corsicana Hebrew cemetery. Corley will bein charge of local arrangements.

Mrs Leichter was a graduate of Corsicana High School and the University of Texas.

She is survived by her husband of Waco; one son, Louis, almost four; her mother, Mrs. LouisDaniels; her grandmother, Mrs. M. L. Levine, both of Waco, and former Corsicana residents; anaunt, Mrs. Louis Goldberg of Corsicana, and other relatives.

Jerry Davis

A Corsicana truck driver, Jerry A. Davis, 32, was found dead in a shower stall Tuesday morningat a Midland truck stop. Davis and a companion driver, Herman Sanches, were en route backfrom Tucson, Ariz. For their employer, the Chattanooga Glass Company, when they halted at thetruck stop so Davis could take a shower. Relatives reported that when he stayed overly long,Sanches went to investigate and when an attendant unlocked the shower room Davis was founddead, apparently of a heart attack. A lifelong resident of Corsicana, he was a member of the

Damon Laton DeMoss, 69, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, June 23, 2007 at NavarroRegional Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Chapel with Brother GaryJohnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald DeMoss, Joey DeMoss, Stan DeMoss, Steve DeMoss, Phil DeMossand Jackie Coker.

Mr. DeMoss was born May 30, 1938 in Eureka. He was married 51 years to his best friend, Ann.He retired and worked part-time at P&S Pharmacy. When not working he could be found crappiefishing, catfishing, hunting and at Mildred softball games, which he loved. He had a wonderfulsense of humor and was loved by everyone who knew him. He was one in a million.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Evie DeMoss, brothers Jack and BuckDeMoss, and his sister, Bonnie Douglas.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; son Randy DeMoss of Euless; daughters Debbie and herhusband Mackey Shofner of Corsicana, and Donna King of Palestine; brother Lawrence DeMossand his wife Doris; sister-in-law Catherine DeMoss of Corsicana; brother-in-law Robert andSheila Betterton of Ben Wheeler; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerousnieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends; and his best pal, Stretch.

Linda Duke

Temple, Linda Ann, loving wife of 45 years to Bill Temple of Red Oak, Texas, peacefullyentered the presence of our Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 22, 2003.

Linda was born on July 15, 1938, in Many, Louisiana to George and Lillie May Duke. Shegraduated from Corsicana, Texas High School and attended Navarro College. Following hermarriage and move to Dallas, she worked as a secretary, primarily in elementary education. Shebegan her faithful service to the Lord at the age of 15 when she became the pianist at her churchin Corsicana and later at Clarendon Drive and Sunny Glen Baptist Churches. She was a faithfulmember of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, where she sang in the choir and cared forbabies in the nursery. She will be remembered for the love and service to her Lord, her husband,and family, especially her four grandchildren. Linda provided inspiration and encouragementduring her treatments for cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, daughter andson-in-law Diana and Bill Branch of Grapevine, son and daughter-in-law Ken and DebbieTemple of Red Oak, grandchildren Allison and Victoria Branch and Ashley and Will Temple,brother-and sister-in-law Bob and Louise Temple, a niece and nephew and families,mother-in-law Julia Temple, her husbands aunt and husband Virginia and Henry Martens andfamilies, and cousins and numerous close friends.

A celebration service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at HillcrestBaptist Church in Cedar Hill, with burial following at Red Oak Cemetery. Patsy Ann Duncan was born January 19, 1939, in Blooming Grove, Texas to Joe Thurman andMavis Maudine Crocker Duncan. She is a graduate of Corsicana High School, Navarro College,and Baylor University with a BA Degree and earned a Master of Education from East Texas StateUniversity in Commerce, Texas.

She has taught for 49 years, starting in 1960 in Belton, Texas. Other public schools she hastaught in have been Corsicana, Rice, and Dawson Public schools, where she taught for the past39 years.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde and Eva Crocker and her parents, JoeDuncan and Mavis Maudine Crocker Duncan.

Patsy is survived by her brother, Joe Clyde Duncan and wife Phyllis; niece Kristine AnneBuettner and husband Brett of Austin; nephew Joe Phillip Duncan and wife Charlotte of Garland;great-niece Nixie Buettner; great-nephews Mason Buettner and Holden Buettner of Austin; JoeC. Duncan II and Sean Duncan of Dawson; great-nieces Rayanne Thompson and KamrenThompson and great-nephew Dylan Thompson of Garland.

Arlene Davis, 65, of Corsicana, Texas passed away Dec. 31, 2003 in Corsicana. She was bornOct. 3, 1938 to A. B. and Clara Mae Hutson and lived most of her life in Corsicana. She wasemployed by Phil Smith's pharmacy for many years. She was also a piano teacher in Corsicanaand organist at Memorial Baptist Church. For the last 16 months, Arlene was a resident ofTwilight home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Lonnie L. Davis, also ofCorsicana.

Don Kennedy, 17, Corsicana High School senior and member of the Tiger band, died inMemorial Hospital Wednesday morning of leukemia. He has been ill since last June, but wasable to attend classes the first three weeks of the fall session.

Donald Marr

Robert Donald Marr, 67, of Hico passed away Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Dallas due tocomplications from lung cancer.

He worked as acosmetologist for almost 40 years and was owner of Don's Beauty Salon for many of those years.Known for his extraordinary wit and laughter, his greatest concern was for the comfort of othersand his deep love of family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his brothers, James Marr, Charles Marr, Lawrence Marr; and hissister, Linda Allred.

Survivors include his brothers, Aubry Marr and wife, Rayneva, of Barry and Herman Marr andwife, Sandra, of Corsicana; seven nieces and five nephews.

Johnny Martin

John T. Martin Jr., age 71, of Karnack passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in Shreveport,La., after a series of illnesses and a stroke. He was born in Retreat on Dec. 31, 1937. Johnattended Corsicana schools, was president of his 1956 senior class and received a full four-yearJim Collins Scholarship. He attended Texas A and M University and was a member of the AggieCorps of Cadets. In 1961, John received his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from A andM. He was commissioned a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served with the 8th InfantryDivision in Bad Kreuznach and Baumholder, Germany. He was also a captain in the ArmyReserve. John worked summer and part-time jobs as a newspaper carrier for the Corsicana DailySun, a clerk for Sutton’s Lunch Counter, a warehouse man and roustabout for MagnoliaPetroleum Company, and as a surveyor for the Soil Conservation Corps and the Texas Highway

Department. On graduation from college, John entered the Plant Engineering Trainee Programwith the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Mich. After military service, he returned to Texasand was employed with Lone Star Gas Company in Dallas. In 1965, John began a 40-year careerin the oil and gas production industry. He was employed with Penrod Drilling Company inVicksburg, Miss., Tenneco Oil Company and Billingsley Engineering in Shreveport, La. In 1974,John became an independent petroleum consultant for supervising drilling, completion, workoverand prognoses of oil and gas wells throughout Southern Arkansas, Northern Louisiana and EastTexas. In 2005, after a full and eventful career, John retired to his Caddo lakeside home nearKarnack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gracie Lee Martin-Hollingsworth and John T. MartinSr. Survivors include his wife, Carly of Karnack; two sisters, Polly Thomas of Corsicana andMary Price of Gladewater; daughter and husband, Shirley and Sinisa Ivanji of Shreveport, La.;son, David Maraman of Scottsdale, Ariz.; son-in-law, Tristan Larson of Shreveport, La.;granddaughter, Trista Larson of Houston; and grandson, Conner Larson of Shreveport, La.Johnwill be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was kind and trustworthy, and a good andloyal man. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Corley Funeral Home. H. Randolph "Randy" McMullan, 55 of Waxahachie, Tx., died March 3, 1994, in Lancaster, Tx. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Corley Funeral Chapel, with Dr. David Hale, Cheryl MartinWixtrom and Wendell Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. He was bornApril 10, 1938, in Corsicana. He was retired from Sears after 25 years. He was currentlyemployed by A.E.P. of Waxahachie. He was a hunter and a horseman all of his life, a breeder ofchampion Appaloosa horses and a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom V. McMullan. Survivors include his wife, MarilynMcMullan of Waxahachie, his mother, Mabel F. Sonda Nutt Davis, 71, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Baylor Medical Center inDallas.She was born to James and Jewel Nutt in Raleigh on May 28, 1938. She worked at the HatFactory as a seamstress. She was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church. Sonda loved tocrochet, loved to read novels and watch westerns, loved family reunions, her grandchildren andgreat grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Brianna Danielle Swadley. James Henry Pitts Jr., born on Nov. 24, 1937, in Corsicana, died on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009. Jimgrew up in Corsicana, and graduated from Corsicana High School and Texas A and M. He cameto Houston in 1960, and taught English at San Jacinto High School and The Kinkaid School. Jimwas the co-owner of The Empty Vase from its creation in 1970 until his retirement in May 2008,at which time he moved to The Hallmark. Private graveside services will be conducted inCorsicana. Bob Robinson

Robert Glenwood Robinson was born March 21, 1936 in Rice, Navarro County Texas to GeorgeAlvis & Opal Odessa (Mahone) Robinson. He was a graduate of the Corsicana High School in1956. He was a member of the Corsicana Police Department. Sergeant Robinson was on patrolwhen he stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of East Tenth Avenue. The driver of the vehicle,Grover Beamon, 63, shot officer Robinson in the back of the head with a sawed-off, 12-gaugeshotgun as the officer tried to take cover. Beamon was arrested, indicted and convicted ofmurder. He was assessed a 99-year prison term. Beamon was released and will be on paroleuntil 2052. Officer Robinson was survived by his wife and one daughter.

Conner Armstrong, 44, of Giddings were killed Tuesday night in a head-on collision of a pick-uptruck and an automobile north of Bryan.

Rogers is a 1956 graduate of Corsicana High School and was a court herald in the 1956Corsicana High School Coronation. He was a member of the band.

The family resided in Corsicana from November 1947 until last Spring when they moved to theCreslenn Ranch, Route 1, Trinidad.

Funeral services are planned from the Corley Funeral Chapel Friday at 2 p.m. The rites will beconducted by Rev. Bob Cheek, pastor of the First Baptist church of Baytown, formerly pastor ofthe Northside Baptist church here and Rev. Guy Phillips, pastor of the Assembly of God church.

Young Rogers was born June 9, 1939, at Kingman, Ariz., and the family resided in Washingtonuntil 1943, when they returned to Arizona and then to Corsicana.

Surviving are his parents Jimmy J. And Florence Streblow Rogers of Route 1, Trinidad;grandparents Mr. And Mrs. George Stewblow, Fond-du-Lac, Wisconsin, and W. G. Rogers,Corsicana, and a number of uncles, aunts, and other relatives.

Rogers was attending A. and M. College on a James Collins scholarship. His mother is ill in aMalakoff hospital.
