(Obedience, Agility, Flyball, New Puppy Class).

These classes are tentatively slated to resume

4/26/2020.

When classes resume, all Obedience classes will

meet outdoors at the Humboldt Blvd location.

Election related business will move to the April 29th meeting.

Not surprisingly, we are asking for your patience and flexibility. We don’t know

what lies ahead of us so plans may change. Please keep your eye on the

website and the Facebook page.

someone will get back to you.

The Officer Positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasur-

er) are one year positions and are up for election every year. The Board

Member positions are three year positions.

If you are interested in running for any of these positions, MDTC will be

taking Nominations off the floor at the April meeting (4/29). The nominat-

ed person must be there to accept the nomination, or send a written note

stating the s/he accepts the nomination. To be nominated, the person

must belong to MDTC for a minimum of 1 year (as of term start date 7/20),

and must be up-to-date on club dues. The election will be held at the

General meeting on May 27th. At this time, all candidates for office will

have a few minutes to state why they are interested in running for the posi-

tion, and why they should be elected.

The Election Nominating Committee is looking for people to run for the

upcoming elections in May. Every position is open. Currently 1 Officer

(Secretary) position is VACANT as the current position holder has chose

not to run again. If you are interested in this Board position or know some-

one who would be a good candidate please let the nominating committee

know (Tracy McCarty and 1 other member TBD yet) or any current Board

member.

The 2 current Board members have said they will run again however there

positions are also open to anyone else who would like to run.

Shirts For Sale!

Now that we've changed our club uniform shirt to the blue ones, we have a

number of leftover gray ones. We're going to sell them on a first come, first

served basis for $10 each. They're perfect to wear to dog training classes!

AKC OBEDIENCE AND RALLY SPONSORSHIP 2020 June 6th and 7th, Milwaukee Dog Training Club will hold its annual 2 day AKC Rally and Obedience Trial. Every year, the club awards ribbons and gifts to the winners of 1st thru 4th place, and ribbons to Qualifiers in all events. Despite efforts to keep costs reasonable, these awards are costly for the club. In the past, MDTC members have sponsored these ribbons and gifts and we are hoping that you would continue this tradition of helping by making a cash donation. In return for your generosity, the club will be able to continue rewarding participants for achievements in Rally and Obedience and your name will be listed in the MDTC Newsletter and the Show Catalog. From set-up to the shows to take-down, your help was necessary and appreciated.

Special thanks to Rick Sasek who did an excellent job as emcee again, moving things along from obedi-

ence to agility to flyball and, finally, to Bravo's Go Dog Go demonstration. The crowd always loves the agili-

ty portion of the show because of the skills of all of the dogs and, I think, because we always have a lot of

different breeds participating. The flyball demo was greeted with a lot of "oohs and aahs" again this year,

especially when the dogs were passing each other.

Thanks to everyone in the booth encouraging people to enter the drawing for the free membership, we had

168 entries this year. We hope the winner will be joining us soon!

Thanks for Another Successful Sports Show

TRACKING WITH YOUR DOG

Are you interested in the sport of tracking. We will be having an informational

meeting and short demonstration on Sunday, May 3rd at 8:00 AM (before

training) at the outdoor club.

For those interested, we will start at the Club Grounds through May to give

everyone time to see if they and their dog want to continue. No harness is

required the first month. We work from the book- “Tracking From The

Ground Up” by Sandy Ganz and Susanne Boyd in case you want to read

ahead of time.

Beginning in June we track early Sunday mornings (7AM) at different parks in

Milwaukee and Waukesha counties May through November.

HERDING INSTINCT EVENT

If you would like to see if your dog has the instinct to herd sheep, you can attend one of 3 different ses-

sions the weekend of June 13 and 14. This is a popular event held twice a year in Genoa City, south of

It's time to start finding volunteers for the AKC Show. This year's trial is Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th. It is again being held in Ixonia, at Western Waukesha Dog Training Club. At this point, we plan on holding it. If things do not improve with the Corona Virus we may have to cancel, but, we can't wait until the last minute to start recruiting volunteers for our trial. Please check your calendars and let me know if you are able to volunteer either or both days, and if there is a specific job you are interested in doing -- or not doing. I'll do my best to give you your specific re-quests. Here's the list of jobs we have: Ideally, we need per day, the following: 4 table stewards (2 per ring), 2 ring gate stewards (1 per ring), 4 ring stewards (2 per ring), 1 Day of Event Coordinator, 1 - 2 Raffle Table people (will also use to sub in rings, to give others a break), 1 Rally Timer (come in PM only) Set up Rally Ring - can be coordinated with another job Thanks in advance for your support.
