As a REALTOR you have no doubt heard about tax reform plans from Washington, DC. Now Congress is threatening tax incentives for
homeowners, like the mortgage interest deduction and the state and local property tax deduction. These incentives are critical for a
strong housing market that creates jobs and builds stable communities. Do not let tax reform become a tax increase for middle class
homeowners.
Homeownership is the bedrock of our industry and we need to make sure any tax reform legislation protects middle class
homeowners.
Did you know that American homeowners already pay 83% of all federal income taxes?
Did you know that some of the tax reforms under discussion could result in a drop of more than 10% in home values?
Did you know that after the 1986 Tax Reform Act property values in the commercial sector dropped significantly, negatively
impacting state and local tax revenue?
Did you know that home-owning families with incomes from $50,000 to $200,000 could face average tax hikes of $ 815tax hikes of $ 815

Tell Congress - Do not raise taxes on middle class homeowners in order to cut taxes for corporations.

The devastating fires that raged through eight counties in Northern California, including Napa, Sonoma, Butte, Mendocino, and Lake,earlier this week have destroyed more than 1,500 structures and taken several lives. A wildfire in Southern California also destroyednumerous homes. Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency just a few hours after the fires began.Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected, especially those in the REALTOR® family.C.A.R. stands ready to assist REALTORS® who have been impacted by these wildfires through its Disaster Relief Fund, andREALTOR® family members can apply for grants from the fund. The Association established the fund in the wake of the 2003California wildfires. Grants provided by the fund are used to help members of the REALTOR® family -- REALTORS®, their staff,and Association members and their staff -- who have incurred substantial losses due to wildfires and other disasters by distributinggrants of $1,000 to $10,000. If you are a REALTOR® who has been impacted by the wildfires, you may make an application torequest a grant from the C.A.R. Disaster Relief Fund by calling Sharlena Bernard at (213) 739-8297 or emailing [email protected] C.A.R. member wishing to help those in our REALTOR® family who have been harmed by the fires in California may click theDonate Now link below or make a contribution directly to California Community Foundation at 221 S.
