Cutting WOF = Width of Fabric, HST = Half-square Triangles

Fabric A, cut:(8) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF); sub- cut (120) 21⁄2” (6.35cm) squares(9) 27⁄8” x WOF (7.30cm x WOF); sub-cut (120) 27⁄8” (7.30cm) squares, cut once diagonally into (240) HST

Fabric B, cut:(4) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF); sub-cut (60) 21⁄2” (6.35cm) squares(4) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF)

Fabrics C and E, cut:(5) 27⁄8” x WOF; sub-cut (60) 27⁄8” (7.30cm), cut once diag-onally into (120) HST

Fabric D, cut:(6) 21⁄4” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF), for binding

Fabrics F, G, H, and I, cut from each:(4) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF)

Fabrics J and K, cut from each:(1) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF)

SewingAll seam allowances are 1/4” (.64cm) and pieces are sewn right sides together.

1. Sew (1) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric G to each side of (1) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric H strip. Repeat to make another strip set. Cross-cut (30) 21⁄2” x 61⁄2” (6.35cm x 16.51cm) A Units. Repeat with Fabrics F and I to make (30) B Units (Fig. 1).

2. Sew (1) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric H to each side of a 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric J strip. Sew (1) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric B strip to each Fabric H strip to make a strip set. Cross-cut (15) 21⁄2” x 101⁄2” (6.35cm x 26.67cm) C Units. Quilt Top Assembly6. Following the Quilt Layout Diagram on page 5, lay

out the blocks alternately into (6) rows of (5) blocks each. Sew the blocks together in each row, matching adjacent seams and pressing seams in alternate directions for adjacent rows. Sew the rows together into the finished quilt top. Press all seams inn one direction.

Finishing7. Sew together the (6) 21⁄4” x WOF (5.72cm x WOF)

Fabric D binding strips end to end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open. Press the binding strip in half wrong sides together.

8. Layer the backing (wrong side up), batting, and quilt top (right side up). Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim excess batting and backing even with the top after quilting is completed.

9. Leaving an 8” (20.32cm) tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12” (30.48cm) from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1⁄4” (.64cm) and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt.

10. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place.
