APEC/OAS Maritime Security Cooperation

CICTE believes that the utilization of the same Manual by both

APEC and OAS countries, along with the promotion of the standards

and guidelines reflected in it, would have a harmonization effect in

regard to the security standards in place at ports of both APEC

Economies and the Americas, setting up a broader example of

cooperation and avoiding potential duplication of efforts. The overall

aim is to facilitate in the mid/long-term the trade flow between both

regions, while strengthening at the same time security procedures

in OAS Member States.
