The Terry Fox Update
On Friday, September
22nd, Oakwood students
participated in a walk to honor Terry
Fox, and to raise money for this very
worthwhile cause. Through your gener-
osity, we are pleased to announce we
raised $600 to support Cancer Re-
search.
Great Job!
Message from the Principal
Well, the first month is already done. The weather was warmer than our summer. It has been a very busy and successful first month of school. I am impressed by the way the staff at Oakwood work hard to meet the needs of our students and how Literacy and Numeracy is stressed in their instruction. The students are settling into the routines and are learning lots of new things. This is espe-cially noticeable in the kindergarten and grade one classrooms. Even our youngest students are enthusiastic about what they are learning. Starting school is a big step and we are very proud of how well the students are doing. Thank you to parents for supporting your children during this back to school time. Wishing you and your family a
Happy Thanksgiving!

School Cash Online
Again this year, we are ask-
ing parents to consider regis-
tering with School Cash
Online, a portal that gives
you the ability to pay for things like class trips,
milk, and even hot lunches. We know it can
sometimes be a challenge to find exact
change to pay for items for your child, but
through School Cash online you’ll be able to
choose debit, credit card or e-cheque to make
easy convenient payments.
To gain access simply visit our school website
[email protected], click on the School Cash
button, and follow the simple instructions to
register. This registration should take less
than 5 minutes. Once you use School Cash
Online you will wonder why you didn’t get
started sooner.
Attendance Calls If your child is going to be absent, please notify the school before 8:30 a.m. If you know ahead of time, please put a note in his agenda. Our office can receive phone mes-sages 24/7. Late arrivals must report to the office for an admit slip.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Co-ed Soccer Team
This intermediate co-ed soccer team participat-
ed in the Area tournament last week. It was a
beautiful day for soccer and our players had a
blast. Our team advanced to the consolation
final after losing the semi-finals 3-2 on a last
minute goal. The final game was very exciting
and resulted in an overtime shoot-out versus
Plymouth School where we lost 3-2. Our play-
ers should be very proud of their hardwork and
team play on this day.
Great day Eagles !
