1 . General description

The felt/wire guiding system consists of the following two ma1n components: · pneumatic correction device SR-400, SR-602A. SRV-602A, SR-902A, SRV-902A, SRW-200 or

SRW-300 - control valve for detecting and controlling the felt/wire edge oosition

Operating principle:

The control valve detects the actual position of the band to be controlled. Depending on direction of paddle deflection the left or the right side of the correction device is pressurized with air and the other side is vented. Additional, the valve within the control valve is opened more or less, depending on extent of deflection. As a result , the device is slowly correcting with small deflections and faster w ith high deflections of the paddle. As soon as the nominal value matches the actual value (felt in desired position) the system is corrected . Depending on type of control valve then both air chambers of the correction device are pressurized with the same pressure or the valve is closed.·

2. Design principle

Find dimensional draw ing and part drawing in the annex of this Operat ing Instructions.

Operation of felt/wire guiding is carried out pneumatically.

Correction devices SR-... and SRV-... consist of a cneumatic cylinder for execution of the correcting movement and an integrated guiding unit for absorbing all forces not acting into direction of movement. SRV-... correction devices are intended for vertical installation. SRW-.. . correction devices consist of two air spring bellows for execution of the correcting movement and a sliding guidance for absorbing ad forces not acting into directton of movement.

SR-... and SRV-... correction devices are equipped with a self-centring spring device enacting a ret urn of the guide roll into centre position tn case of air supply loss.

3 . Recommendations for optimal funct ion of the correction device

The correction device should be instatled on the tender side between two fixed rolls.

FIX

The distance ratio between fixed roils and the correction device should be approx. 2:1, if possible.

The felt/w ire w rap angle should be min. 20° and max. 40° (ref. to Technical Data) .

The correction device should be instath!d in t he position of the bisector by placing appropriate supporting plates under the correction device.

4 . Installation of correction device

1. Measure distance X at the opposite side of the correction device.

2 Mark distance X at the location where the correctron device should be mounted and drill holes for installation ot the device.

3. Level oppos1te side of correction device to the same height Y as the correction device.

4 . Attach guide roll to correction device.

5. Check centre distances and screw on correction oevice.

5. Installation of control valve

Within this Operating Instructions installation of SV-90 control valve is specified. Procedures for installation of other control valves :s specified within the Operating Instructions of the relevant control valves.

1. Attach support of SV-30 to the base so it is mounted after the correction device in the felt/wire running direction and as near as poss1ble to the correction device.

2. Mount controller VERTICALLY to the support of the SV-30 so that the air connections are

directed away from the machine (ref. to figure on page 61.

3. Slide paddle onto the control shaft. Not yet tighten mounting screws.

4. Insert delivereo stop pin into nole of control valve.

5. Let arm of paodle seat on the om and hold in this position.

6. Turn control shaft until red marKing of aligning disk matches marking on the control valve

while holding the paddle constantly to the stop.

7. Tighten screw of paddle arm ·.vhile holding the oaddle constantly to the stop .

8. Adjust height of paddle so it :s positioned approx. Jn the centre of the felt/w ire.

9. Shift horizontal arm of SV-30 so that the felt/wire is placed to the desired position of the

oaddle while holding it constantly to the stop.

10. REMOVE STOP PIN.

11. Connect air suoply lines ace. :o diagram below.

Use acid/lye-proof Jines in the wire and press section. Use heat-proof lines in the drver section.

6. Put ting int o operation

1. Fill oil into the service unit. -Oil qualitY: heat-resistant synthetic oil (call your supplier for type of oil)

2. Adjust air oressure to min. 2bar/max. 4bar.

3. Move paodle to one side and the correction device must fully move out to one side. Move paddle to the other side and the correction device must fully move out to the otner side.

4. Check of direction: a) Assuming that felt/w ire runs from LEFT to RIGHT (tender s1oe view) and correct:on device and

detection assy. installed on the tender side move the paddle agarnst the felt/wire edge and the correction device must move out to the LEFT.

b) Move the paddle away from the felt/wire edge and the correction device must move out to the RIGHT.

With felt runnrng direction from RIGHi to LEFT this IS exactly in reverse order. In case t he correction dev1ce moves out in the wrong direction the air connections at the control valve or at the correction dev1ce must be changed.

5. Let felt/wire run slowly and view the correction device and the felt running. In case the correction device is moving too slow or too fast change pressure at the regulator valve. With SV-95 control valves the intake air can be also regulated via intake air restrictor.
