Children often become one of the most vulnerable and innocent victims of crimes like sexual

the victims of such unfortunate incidents at a tender age when they do not even understand
what is happening to them. Due to social taboos, parents / teachers are often hesitant to
discuss sensitive issues directly with children even when they realize it is essential. Taking
these aspects into consideration, our school takes up the required initiatives to inform
students about personal body safety.
Very recently, guidance sessions have been organized for the students in classes Nursery –I
in order to make them aware of personal body safety. The session was conducted by Mrs.
Sujata Banerjee ,counsellor of the school. In order to maximize the scope of interaction
between the counsellor & students, the session was conducted in small groups taking one
section of a class at a time.

setup. An animated short film was shown to the students which explained about safe &
unsafe touch in a non threatening manner. Following this , they were explained the
following aspects in detail :

Report: Class-Wise Sessions for Nursery-Class I Date - 28.08.2018
Venue - Respective Classrooms
Purpose - To impart moral values & thereby foster moral development of children
Moral development is one of the most significant aspects of personality development. Society as well as the
system of education primarily influences an individual’s moral development. School is often said to be the
fountain head of social and moral virtues as it plays a dominant role in ethical/moral development of
children as well as adolescents. The guidance provided by teachers regarding social norms, their love,
affection & empathy for students can positively influence their value development even during the early
years of education. In our school, we attempt to seek active involvement of the parental community in the
teaching-learning process through different programs and activities.
One such initiative was taken up during this academic session in which collaborative learning scaled new
heights. The second counselling session in Pre-Primary Wing was conducted on 28.08.2018 by the parental
community. Parents from every section of Pre-Primary classes were selectively invited to counsel the
students in their ward’s class. Enthusiastic parents gladly accepted the invitation to counsel & guide the kids
in understanding & learning the basic moral values. It seemed to be a coveted opportunity for them that they
did not want to miss instead of having their personal and professional engagements at that hour.
It was a 40 minutes session. Separate parent counsellors were allotted for every section in classes Nursery-I.
The session for Nursery F was conducted by the school counsellor. The novelty of the sessions made our
classrooms alive with excitement, as excited students eagerly imbibed the valuable lessons of moral
education. The following topics were covered:
Meaning of morals/values
Basic values, manners & habits one must develop
Importance of having good morals
The parent counsellors were provided the topic & the guidelines prior to the session. The topics were
explained to the students in an age appropriate manner through chart/craftwork display & story telling
activities .The students were found to be highly enthusiastic to interact with the counsellors .Overall the
