WHAT ARE THE DATES? Summer Bridge runs from Monday through Thursday, beginning July 8th and ending on August 15th.

WHERE ARE THE SESSIONS HELD? Summer Bridge classroom-based sessions are held at the Lincroft, Neptune and Long Branch campuses. You will be assigned to a particular section – Times and locations are listed under the course options in this brochure. Placement is based on Accuplacer scores and the location where you live.

WHAT IF MY ACCUPLACER SCORES SHOW NO NEED FOR FOUNDATIONAL CLASSES? Students who test out of developmental classes will be assigned to the online section of the Summer Bridge Program. We refer to this group as the “A-Bridged” group. These students do not participate in the class-based sessions as they have no need for basic skill classes. However, the A-Bridged group will still complete the Financial Litera-cy and Career-Readiness modules online.

COURSE OPTION 1: Reading 095 – Reading Analysis & Study Skills This course is designed to help students improve their reading skills and study strategies to effectively handle the demands of college courses. The students will learn to analyze text and apply appropriate study/learning strategies. By successfully completing READ 095, stu-dents will satisfy their basic skills requirement for reading. (Offered in Neptune – Mon-Thurs 9:30am – 1:30pm) *Must have Reading Accuplacer Score within range between 233 – 249

COURSE OPTION 2: MATH 015 – Prealgebra This course prepares students for elementary algebra. Operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers are rein-forced through application problems. Other topics include orga-nizing data in tables and graphs, formulas, ratio and proportion, percent, practical geometry, evaluating algebraic expressions, graphing in the rectangular coordinate system, making input/output tables, absolute value, measurement conversion between American and metric units, and solving simple algebraic equations.(Offered in Neptune – Mon-Thurs 11:30am – 3:30pm) (Offered in Long Branch – Mon-Thurs 8:30am – 12:30pm) *Must have Algebra Accuplacer Score within range between 200-219 (with NO Reading 091) OR between 220-239 (regardless of Reading Placement)

Course Option 3: Writing Course Description: This is a developmental writing course designed to strengthen and develop the student’s skills in the following areas:

* Focus, Introductions & Conclusions * Understanding the Essentials of Details and Concrete Language * Integrating Dialogue * Organizing Text * Grammar * Creative Writing (Offered in Lincroft Mon-Thurs 8:30am - 1:30pm) *Placement determined by EOF Staff based on Writing Accuplacer score

Course Option 4: Bridge TO COLLEGE-Level math Course Description: This course is designed for students whose placement test scores and high school coursework indicate that they need only a brief “refresher” before they are ready for college-level math. The course combines face to face instruction with an online component and is designed to provide students with the prerequisite math skills needed for success in an entry-level general education math course such as Math for the Liberal Arts, Statistics, or Algebraic Modeling. Course topics include algebraic expressions, equations, & inequalities; linear equations in two variables & systems of equations; and basic probability & statistics. (Offered in Lincroft Mon-Thurs 1pm – 5pm) *Must have Algebra Accuplacer Score within range between 200-219 (with NO Reading 091) OR between 220-239 (regardless of Reading Placement)

Course Option 5: A-BRIDGED LEARNING ONLINE Students who are assigned to this side of the EOF Summer Bridge Program are not required to attend classes for academic development. Instead, these students will be connected to us through our online learning community, known as a “CANVAS” shell. Here, students will be able to access and complete their EOF Summer Requirements: FOCUS2 and Financial Literacy 101. Students may be required to attend Friday workshop sessions to enhance their understanding of the online content.

FOCUS 2 is a self-paced online, interactive, self-guided career and education planning system which can help you select a program of study based on your interests and skills.

Financial Literacy 101 is another web-based program designed to help students understand financial aid, budgeting and credit management.

Important Dates for EOF Summer Bridge Students:

Friday, June 28th – New Student & Parent Assembly

Monday, July 8th – First Official Day of Summer Bridge Classes

Friday, August 16th – EOF Student Convocation
