Dear Friends, Each month we have three significant bills that must be paid by our parish: » Health Care: $5,196 » Diocesan Assessment: $3,588 » Pension: $1,493.24 This is for your information and these stand with other monthly bills. Thanks for your generous financial support of our parish.

Dear Friends; This week brings us to a beautiful season and day of Thanksgiving celebration. It is a month and a day of Giving Thanks! It is also a time of being grateful for all the gifts we are given freely. It is a time to appreciate, treasure, value and cherish all that God has brought into our

lives. It is only in the outpouring of God’s grace that it is possi-ble to offer true thanks and accept God’s unconditional and unending love. When we gather at the table with our family and friends, let us remember to open our hearts and minds to all the goodness and beauty in our lives and in God’s creation. Grate-fulness for those around us and remembering those who can-not be with us this day. Maybe you will decide to share your day in prayer and to serve the less fortunate at the soup kitch-en, local parishes who serve less fortunate and the hungry or going to nursing homes. So, let all of us create a personal prayer and action of reaching out in unconditional and unending love for all people. All humankind experience struggles, crises and suffering. It is only when we can accept our painful experi-ences, that we can discover the fully alive gifts that lay hidden in our lives. Let the hand of God guide you and open your eyes to see all the gifts you have been given in life. Embrace this enriching day of Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Blessing: Gracious and generous God, we gath-er together to give thanks and praise for all the gifts we have been given individually and as a community. Faithful giving God, we thank you for all your gifts you so generously have given us. With your unceasing help and strength, may our faith be enriched and bring us continuous peace and love in our families and in our parish community. Amen.

* The Liturgy of The Word *

1st Reading Daniel 12: 1-3

In those days, I Daniel, heard this word of the Lord: "At that time there shall arise Michael, the great prince, guardian of your people; it shall be a time unsurpassed in distress since nations began until that time. At that time your people shall escape, everyone who is found written in the book.

"Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace.

"But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever."

The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

Response Psalm 16: 5, 8, 9-10, 11

John Schiavone

1. O LORD, it is you who are my portion and cup, you yourself who secure my lot. I keep the LORD before me always; with him at my right hand, I shall not be moved. ♫

2. And so, my heart rejoices, my soul is glad; even my flesh shall rest in hope. For you will not abandon my soul to hell, nor let your holy one see corruption. ♫

3. You will show me the path of life, the fullness of joy in your presence, at your right hand, bliss forever. ♫

2nd Reading Hebrews 10: 11-14, 18

Brothers and sisters: Every priest stands daily at his ministry,

offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins. But this one offered one sacrifice for sins, and took his seat forever at the right hand of God; now he waits until his enemies are made his footstool. For by one offering he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated.

Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin.

The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

* Verse: * Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength

to stand before the Son of Man. ( Luke 21:36 )

Gospel

Mark 13: 24-32

Jesus said to his disciples: "In those days after that tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

"And then they will see 'the Son of Man coming in the clouds' with great power and glory, and then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky.

"Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

The Gospel of the Lord. PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Journey to Bethlehem Mass Saturday, 1 December 2018

Join Catholic Charities Disability Services & Ministries for the Annual Journey to Bethlehem Liturgy on Satur-day, 1 December 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with our celebrant Bishop Roger Gries. Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a light luncheon following. This year, the Mass will take place at St. Augustine Parish, 2486 West 14th Street Cleveland. This beautiful celebration marks the 34th anniversary of this liturgy for persons with disabilities, their families and friends. We encourage members of our Diocese to join us. All are welcome! Call 216-334-2962 or email [email protected] for more infor-mation.

THE RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS is an annual collection that raises funds that are distributed to religious communities throughout the eight coun-ties of the diocese and across the country. These funds help communities provide for the immediate needs of their elder members. Religious communities are exceedingly grateful for this assistance and are careful stewards of each dollar received. This years’ collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious will be on the weekend of December 8 – 9, 2018. Share in the care and please give to those who have given a lifetime.

THANKSGIVING ADORATION SUSPENSION

Eucharistic Adoration will be sus-pended from 7:00 PM on

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord!

November 18, 2018

When the liturgical year reaches a close, we are reminded of the end of time. The readings urge us to remember that the cycle won’t always continue, not for individuals, not for the church, not for the universe. Right before the end of time, it won’t be pretty, but the pain will conclude in a long-awaited reunion with Christ.

The tone and words of today’s readings appear dark and troubling, but they are intended to offer us hope and expectation. Our first reading, from the prophet Daniel, looks forward to the afterlife where those faithful to God will rise to eternal life.

The Gospel passage comes from a chapter in Mark’s Gospel in which Jesus speaks about the Second Coming at the end of time. Jesus’ words are not meant to be terrifying. Evil will be vanquished when Christ returns, and his vanquishing of evil will entail some chaos before the dawn of peace. Jesus’ words offer us the hope that we are destined for eternal life. The Gospel calls on us to be watchful and to lead our lives in expectation of the Master’s return.

The Lord will not abandon us. He is always at our side to guide us on the path of life. We need to lead our life prepared to meet him when he returns as we pray the Our Father, “Thy Kingdom Come!” We can be sure that the world as we know it will pass, but one thing remains steadfast, Jesus’ words will not pass away. All things are transitory and this should help us to know how to lead a good life by loving God and serving others. There is nothing else you can do and you will be ready to meet the Lord.

C.L.O.W. Family Connection Many things in our lives and in our world are subject to change. Yet many of us find security in relationships and values that endure. Primarily among these are our family relationships. We can confidently accept change if we know that we will continue to be loved by our family and by God. We help impart this sense of trust and confidence in our children with our daily assurances to them that nothing can change our love for them. As you gather as a family, look through several family photo albums. Observe and talk about things that have changed in your family life over the years. Talk also about the things that have stayed the same. We do not need to fear changes in our family life because we know that the most important aspects of our family life do not change, such as our love for one another. The same is true with God and God’s love for us. Read today’s Gospel, Mark 13:24-32. Jesus teaches us that things in our world will change and that the world itself will one day end. We don’t need to be fearful because God’s love for us will never end. Conclude in prayer together thanking God for his never-ending love for us.

We are currently planning for our trip for next summer to Charleston, South Carolina from June 23-29, 2019. CHWC is open to all teens currently in grades 8-12, young adults 18-22 and adults 22+. It is a week of hard work, serving others, praying intensely & making new rela-tionships with hundreds of Catholics from all over the coun-try! The cost for the camp alone is $380 per person. Thanks for your support on our First Fundraiser- Krispy Kreme Donuts! We are beginning our second fundraiser, a poinsettia sale! Check out the flyer and the bulletin board! This is the 3rd year we will be selling beautiful Petitti Garden Center Poinsettias in 8 colors! Keep a look out for how you can help us and “TAKE STOCK” in our youth!
