Letter from the Chair Happy October St. Louis Chapter!
It is finally fall and that means change is in the air in St.
Louis. Although the temperatures are winding down, the
activities in the St. Louis chapter are heating up. We have
two more events this year, and both are exciting opportunities
to get out and network with your fellow Cosmetic Chemists!
First, thank you to all that attended our recent Scientific
Symposium. We had great speakers, great food and great
attendees! Our theme was Safety and Sustainability. Every
speaker imparted a new take on sustainability and the impact
it has in our work and our personal lives.
Our next event is a joint venture with the St. Louis Chapter
IFT (Institute of Food Technologists). We will be meeting for
a drink and a talk at Urban Chestnut Brewery. Come meet the
IFT members and chat about the similarities and differences
between a cosmetic chemist and a food technologist. I think
we will find we share more than we think.
To cap off the year, we will be celebrating the end of the
2015 term and installing the 2016 officers at an exciting
venue. Please join us to watch the St. Louis Blues take on the
Buffalo Sabres at the Scottrade Center in our own private
room atop the stadium. Due to limited seating, this event is
currently open to members and member guest only. As room
becomes available, open invitations will open up. So please
RSVP right away to ensure your spot!
2016 Election Ballots will be going out soon. Please
remember to vote for your favorite future STL SCC board
member. We have some new candidates and some veteran
favorites. We will also be voting on the amendments to our
Chapter Bi-Laws. The proposed amendments will be
available soon on the chapter website for viewing as well as
on the ballot. We need 2/3 chapter vote to amend the bi-laws,
so please remember to mail back your ballot.
Finally, just a reminder to re-new your membership. The
SCC offers great benefits and is a great organization to
connect with industry. All of the chapters are competing in a
membership retention contest. St. Louis is currently in 5th
place, down from 2nd
just two weeks ago. There are a few
other chapters that would like to knock us out of the running.
Let’s show them that St. Louis does not back down from a
challenge! Please let me know if you are having trouble
getting your membership renewed for 2016.
Thank you to all of you for your support this year and I can’t
wait to see you all at our next event!
Best Regards,
Justyce Jedlicka

In October 2016, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists
will host the 29th Congress of the International
Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists
(IFSCC). This prestigious event will be held October
30 – November 2, 2016 at the Walt Disney World
Resort’s Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Cosmetic
Scientists presently representing the 47 Member Societies
comprising the IFSCC will gather to discuss and advance
the science and technology of our industry. The theme for
the Congress is “Beyond Dreams into New Frontiers:
Inspire, Imagine, Innovate”. The 29th IFSCC Congress will
provide the US industry an opportunity to exchange
scientific knowledge on a global basis.
