Look for BooksThe best way to learn which books your child enjoys is to read children’s books—lots of them! Check out funshineextras.com for Book Lists corresponding to each month’s themes. Get to know your local librarians and ask for their recommendations as well.I Want to Be an Astronaut by Byron BartonBig Book of Airplanes by Caroline BinghamKite Day: A Bear and Mole Story by Will HillenbrandKite Flying by Grace Lynn

Sing Along with MeFind these songs at www.funshineexpress.com

Little Airplane Sung to “Jingle Bells”

Little plane, little plane, Flying way up high! (Pretend to fly a plane.) Up and down and all around, Zooming through the sky! Little plane, little plane, Vrooming oh so loud! As I pass, I’ll wave to you, (Wave.) From behind a cloud!

Up Pop the Flowers Sung to “Pop Goes the Weasel”

We plant some seeds in the dirt. (Pretend to plant seeds.) The rain falls in a shower. (Make rain with fingers.) The sun comes out and what do you know? (Crouch down.) Up pop the flowers! (Pop up!)

Cooking TogetherWhen cooking with young children, allow them

to help in a safe way with mixing, pouring, rolling, mashing, shaking, etc. Use words to describe what you are doing and what you

plan to do next. Talk about what you see, smell, feel, hear, and taste.

Biscuit Bloomsrefrigerated biscuit dough jam

Heat the oven and prepare a pan according to package instructions. Give your child a plastic knife and a biscuit on a piece of waxed paper. Show him how to make several cuts through the dough around the outside edges of the biscuit. Gently separate the dough to make flower petals. Transfer the biscuit to the pan by simply turning the paper upside down. Have your child make an indent with his thumb in the center of his biscuit. Bake as directed. When the biscuits are done, place a dab of jam in the middle and enjoy!
