    We call on New York ocials to take all necessary steps toauthorize and establish supervised injection facilities as a

    Supervised injection facilities (SIFs) are controlled health care settingswhere people can more safely inject pre-obtained drugs in a hygienic

    environment with access to sterile injecting equipment and under thesupervision of trained healthcare sta SIFs provide an array of supportincluding health care! counseling! and referrals to health and socialservices! including drug treatment

    • Increased access to drug treatment! especially among peoplewho distrust the treatment system and are unli+ely to see+treatment on their own 4
